ABSTRACT
Objectives. This thesis describes that two-stage polymerized technique is designed and analyzed to fabricate stable and accurate record base.
Materials and Methods. From edentulous maxillary stone, the labial/buccal aspects of the residual ridge are blocked out. The cast is coated with a thin layer of petroleum jelly. In stone cast, four cases are considered. The first case draws a line along the end of the border. The second, third, and four cases do lines at 5, 10, 15 mm below of alveolar crest along the palatal plane, respectively. From each case, the Triad sheets are divided into two U-shaped pieces. Each pieces are polymerized for 15 minutes under visible light with a wavelength of 475nm and light intensity of 90mw/cm2. The polymerized sheets are polymerized again by adding resin to the cutting region. After 24 hours, impression material is injcted into the inside of the record base. The record base is located in the cast stone. Using instron, the record base is pressed by 40N pressure for 5 minutes. Finally, the mass of impression material is measured after removed. the mass is evaluated at the space between record base and cast and compared among the five groups using ANOVA test, Wilcoxon Rank-Sum test and Tukey-Kramer HSD test(α=0.05).
Results. From the expriments, 10 and 15mm cases are comparable to each other. The mean of 10mm case and the std of 15mm cases are best among four cases, respectively. There are trade-off between 10 and 15mm cases in terms of mean and std. Finally, the two-stage polymerized technique can stably improve the fitness of the denture base.
Conclusion. Finally, the two-stage polymerized technique can stably improve the fitness of the denture base.
