스트레스와 가족탄력성이 여성 한부모가족의 적응에 미치는 효과 연구 = A Study on the Effect of Stress and Family Resilience on the Family Adjustment of Single-Mother Families

The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of stress and family resilience on the family adjustment of single mother families based on the family resilience approach. The major findings were: First, a single mother who had a lower level of family stress and a higher lever of family resilience reported a higher level of family adjustment. Second, economic stress influenced negatively on the adjustment of single mother families. The family’s belief system, organizational pattern and communication processes of the three sub-factors of family resilience influenced positively on family adjustment. However the sub-factors of family resilience had more powerful effects than family stress. Third, the three sub-factors of family resilience had a buffering effect,including both moderating and mediating effects between family adjustment and relational stress. However family resilience had no buffering effect on the negative power ofeconomic stress in single mother families.
The results of this study have important implications for theory, research, and practice. The study showed that the adjustment of single mother families could be significantly explained by family resilience rather than family stress. Accordingly strength perspective-based intervention focused on family resilience would be more effective than deficit perspective-based intervention based on family stress.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 가족탄력성 접근을 이론틀로 하여 여성 한부모가족을 탄력적 발달이 가능한 역동적 단위로 보고 가족적응에 영향을 미치는 스트레스와 가족탄력성의 영향을 밝히고자 하였다. 여성 한부모 247명을 대상으로 가족적응에 영향을 미치는 스트레스의 영향력을 가족탄력성이 완충역할을 하는지 살펴본 결과 첫째, 여성 한부모가족의 스트레스와 가족탄력성의 수준에 따라 가족적응에 차이가 나타났다. 스트레스 수준이 낮고 가족탄력성 수준이 높은 집단에서 가족적응이 높게 나타났다.
둘째, 여성 한부모가족의 적응에 경제적 스트레스와 관계적 스트레스가 유의한 부적 주효과를 나타냈고 가족탄력성의 세 하위요인인 가족의 신념체계, 조직패턴, 의사소통 과정은 모두 유의한 정적 주효과를 나타냈다. 전반적으로 가족탄력성의 영향력이 스트레스의 영향력보다 훨씬 크게 나타나 여성 한부모가족의 적응은 스트레스 보다 가족탄력성에 의해 주로 설명됨을 알 수 있다.
셋째, 여성 한부모가족의 적응에 미치는 스트레스의 영향력을 가족탄력성이 완충역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 관계적 스트레스의 경우 가족의 신념체계와 조직패턴, 그리고 의사소통과정의 가족탄력성과의 상호작용에 의해 가족적응에 대한 부정적 영향을 감소시키는 조절효과와 관계적 스트레스와 가족적응 사이에서 가족적응을 높이는 매개효과 둘 다를 나타냈다.
본 연구의 결과는 여성 한부모가족의 적응을 향상시키기 위해서는 가족스트레스의 감소라는 문제중심적 개입보다 가족탄력성을 강화하는 강점중심의 개입이 보다 효과적이라는 것을 보여준다.
