This study tried to find out the mediated effect of career decision-making self-efficacy and the moderating effect of coaching competence in the impact of university students' self-leadership on career maturity. The following research issues have been established to achieve these objectives:
First, what is the relationship among university students' self-leadership, career decision-making self-efficacy, career maturity and coaching competence?
Second, what is the mediated effect of career decision-making self-efficacy in the relationship between self-leadership and career maturity of university students?
Third, what is the moderating effect of coaching competence in university students' self-leadership, career decision-making self-efficacy, and career maturity relationships?
For this study, a survey was conducted on 412 students enrolling in universities located in Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheong-do and Jeolla-do, and 356 data were finally included in the analysis. The questionnaire collected for this study was conducted using correlation analysis and structural model equation, bootstrap, and multi-group analysis using SPSS and AMOS 26.0 through coding process, and the results and conclusions obtained through discussion are as follows.
First, the analysis of the correlation between the self-leadership and career decision-making self-efficacy of university students showed significant static correlation among all measurement variables, and the analysis of it between self-leadership and career maturity showed that all measurement variables have a statistically significant correlation. Also an analysis of the correlation between self-leadership and coaching competency indicated a significant static correlation. As a result of analyzing the correlation between career decision-making self-efficacy and coaching competence, the sense of career exploration and career performance did not show a significant correlation with the measurement variable of coaching competence, but the career decision-making self-efficacy showed a statistically significant correlation with the listening of coaching competence.
Second, as a result of analyzing the mediated effect of career decision-making self-efficacy in relationship between self-leadership and career maturity of university students, it was found that self-leadership affects career maturity through the medium of career decision-making self-efficacy.
Third, as a result of examining the effects of self-leadership, self-efficacy in career decision-making, and coaching competence in the effects of self-leadership on career decision-making self-efficacy, coaching competence is not effective in the effects of career decision-making self-efficacy on career experience. And in terms of the impact of self-leadership on career maturity, it has shown a moderating effect in the group with high coaching competence.
The above findings show that self-leadership, career-setting self-efficacy, and coaching competence are important factors that affect university students' career maturity. Therefore, it is necessary to develop various career coaching programs that can improve university students' career skills, and to use coaching to promote self-leadership, self-efficacy in career guidance, and coaching competence.
