The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the skillstreaming program was effective for children at risk with learning disabilities on the improvement of their social skills and reduced of their problem behaviors. The participants were 1st to 3rd graders from an elementary school, who were diagnosed with learning disabilities at risk. They received the skillstreaming program 24 times for 6 weeks. The researcher investigated changes on cooperativity, assertiveness, responsibility, self-control, externalizing behavior, internalizing behavior, and hyperactivity. The researcher analyzed the changes by using repeated Measures ANOVA and Tukey post hoc analysis. The results were as following: First, the skillstreaming program improved participants’ social skills. Especially, it improved self-control, responsibility and cooperativity. Additionally, the improvements maintained even after the intervention was withdrawn. However, no meaningful difference was observed for assertiveness.
Second, the skillstreaming program decreased paricipants’ problem behaviors. Internalizing behaviors and hyperactivity maintained low level at during the maintenance phase. However, no meaningful difference was identified for externalizing behaviors.
