학교도서관에 대한 교사들의 인식에 관한 연구 : 대구·경북지역 가톨릭계 중학교를 중심으로

It is positively necessary for teachers to have and make the most of the high standard of recognition on school libraries that is the most important of all the basic environments in which to realize and materialize the educational reformation policy for the development for the students as well as themselves - even for the school education.
Hereupon, in this study the objects of school libraries on which the educational functions were emphasized have been reviewed. The roles of the school libraries being newly recognized through the changing of educational environments have been found. Also the roles of teachers considered to be important for the activation and development of school libraries are presented through the study of existing literature review.
The general situations of nine Middle Schools under the Association of Catholic Foundation located in the city of Daegu and the Gyeongbuk Province have been researched. Their responses to the role of librarian teachers have been surveyed and analyzed through the survey of incumbent teachers, the actual conditions of utilization of school libraries, their recognition of the role and functions of the libraries,
The teachers use them occasionally - about once a month -for cultivation and making use of their spare time, and the major reasons for their not using the libraries were that they had too much work and teaching hours on hand. The teachers had a strong feeling for the necessity of teaching actively using the libraries or of training on the method of how to use them. In the survey on the recognition of the their roles, it has been revealed that the demand on the necessity of the educational functions of the school libraries and on the librarian teachers was pretty high.
The primary suggestion through this study is recognizing the ever-increasing importance and necessity of the school libraries caused by changing educational environments, the Middle Schools under the Association of Catholic Foundation located in the city of Daegu and the Gyeongbuk Province should positively consider the assignment of the librarian teachers who may manage the school libraries on a full time basis.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

교사들이 교육개혁 방안을 실현하고 구체화 할 기반환경 중에 가장 중요한 환경적 기반인 학교도서관에 대해 높은 수준의 인식을 가지고 활용하는 것은 본인 뿐 아니라 학생, 더 나아가 학교교육의 발전을 위해 반드시 필요하다.
이에 본 연구는 학교도서관의 교육적 기능을 강조한 학교도서관의 목적을 살펴보고 교육환경의 변화를 통해 새로이 인식되고 있는 학교도서관의 역할에 대해 알아보았다. 아울러 학교도서관의 활성화와 발전을 위해 중요시되고 있는 교사들의 역할을 기존의 문헌연구를 통해 제시하였다.
가톨릭교육재단협의회 산하 대구․경북지역에 소재한 9개의 중학교를 대상으로 학교도서관의 일반적 상황에 대해 조사하였고, 재직하고 있는 교사들을 대상으로 학교도서관에 대한 이용실태와 학교도서관 역할과 기능에 대한 인식, 사서교사의 역할에 대한 인식의 반응을 조사ㆍ분석하였다.
교사들은 학교도서관을 교양과 여가 선용을 위해서 매월 1회 정도 가끔 이용하고 있으며 도서관을 자주 이용하지 않는 이유는 업무와 수업시간이 많아서가 가장 많았다. 도서관 활용수업이나 이용방법에 대한 연수의 필요성을 강하게 느끼고 있으며 학교도서관의 교육적 기능의 수행과 사서교사의 필요성에 대해서도 요구가 높은 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구를 통한 주요 제언은 가톨릭교육재단협의회 산하 대구ㆍ경북지역의 중학교는 변화하는 교육환경으로 인해 그 중요성과 필요성이 더욱 커지고 있는 학교도서관의 필요성을 인식하고 학교도서관을 전담 운영할 사서교사의 배치를 적극적으로 검토해야 한다는 것이다.
