In this study, the 750kw scale composite blade for the horizontal axis wind turbine system was designed. The design result was confirmed by the stress analysis, the modal analysis and the buckling analysis with Finite Element Method.
In order to evaluate the structural analysis results, It was tested by the specific structural test rig for the composite blade. Applied loads for the test were the point-concentrated loads, which were considered to the extreme aerodynamic loads due to various wind speeds during operation. In the test, it was found that local buckling on the trailing edge at 067R station and excessive deflection of the blade tip phenomena were happened. Therefore the blade structure design was modified to solve these problems. Modified wind turbine blades were manufactured, and retested. Finally through the field test by the complete wind turbine system, the structural design was confirmed.
