예술춤에 대한 인식조사 - 대학생을 대상으로 - = A study on the perception on dance as art - Focusing on university students -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As general people have got many opportunities to experience dance as art, it seems that their perception on the dance has been changed in this era. This study supposes the change of perception on the dance as art. The purpose of the study is to explore university students’ perception on the dance as art and find the way how to develop dance field in the future. The research questions are following: What is dance as art? What is the perception on the dance? What is the way we should pursue to be familiar dance to audience in the future? The focus groups are university students who are in dance major, who are not in dance major but have experience on dance, and who never experience dance. The method of the study is Focus Group Interview that is suitable way to examine perception studies. Each group includes six students to discuss on the issue, and it runs about 90 minutes for each interview. This study deals with students who are in dance major lives in Seoul and rest of them are not in dance major and live in Choongchung area. This makes more realistic results. Since dance as an art is concentrated in Seoul area, students who live in Choongchung area do not have enough opportunities to encounter dance and they think it is too abstract and unapproachable genre. As a result of the interview, dance as art is not recognized, as the researcher expected. Therefore, we need more time and trials to people accept dance as art positively. Especially the students who are not in Seoul need more chances to approach dance as art. In the future, many trials will be needed in order to spread positive perception on the dance. Moreover, perception studies according to more specific areas will be expected.
