중학교 국어과 교과서 현대 소설 제재 선정 기준 및 적용 방안 연구 = A study on the criteria and methods of selecting modern novels for middle-school's curriculum

국문 초록 (Abstract)

소설 교육의 목표는 소설 텍스트를 읽고 이해할 수 있는 능력을 갖추고, 이 능력을 바탕으로 학습자가 자신의 삶을 성찰하고, 새로운 삶을 설계할 수 있도록 하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 학습자의 수준에 적합한 작품을 선정하여 교과서에 수록하는 일은 중요한 일이다. 이에 본 연구는 현행 제 7차 국어 교과서에 수록되어 있는 현대 소설을 대상으로 제재의 적합성을 살핀 후, 바람직한 제재의 위계를 구상해 보는 것을 목표로 했다.
이를 위해 Ⅱ장에서는 기존 연구자들의 제재 선정 기준을 분석하여 본 연구자의 기준을 독자 측면과 텍스트 측면, 기타로 분석하였다.
Ⅲ장에서는 Ⅱ장의 기준을 바탕으로 7차 교과서에 수록된 현대 소설의 적합성 여부를 살펴 본 후, 상호텍스트성과 근접 발달 영역을 적용하여 바람직한 중학교 국어 교과서 제재의 위계화를 완성해 보았다.
제 7차 중학교 국어 교과서에 수록된 작품 중 1학년은「이해의 선물」만이 적합한 제재였으며, 2학년은「소음공해」와「사랑손님과 어머니」, 3학년은「원미동 사람들」과「운수 좋은 날」이 적합한 제재였다. 1학년 제재 중「옥상의 민들레꽃」과「소나기」는 학기 말과 학기 초의 인지 수준 차이를 고려하여 학기 말로 조정하였으며,「흰 종이수염」은 2학년으로 상향 조정하고, 2학년의「기억 속의 들꽃」은 3학년의 첫 작품으로 상향 조정하였다. 또한 연구자는 알퐁스 도데의「별」을 1학년 과정에, 김유정의「동백꽃」을 3학년 과정에 새롭게 수록하였다.
교과서 수록 제재를 선정함에 있어서 학습자를 고려하는 것은 최우선이 되어야 한다. 앞으로 학습자를 고려한 제재가 알맞은 학년에 적절히 수록되기 위한 연구들이 많이 있어야 할 것이며 또한 객관적으로 검증하고 타당성을 높이기 위한 활용 방안이 연구되어야 할 것이다.
