This study is purposeful to understand the effect of play therapy supervision deeply by clarifying if therapist's self-disclosure has mediation effect in the relations of working alliance in supervision and therapist's self-efficacy after examining the relations between working alliance in supervision, therapist's self-disclosure and self-efficacy.
For this, this study has confirmed the influence of working alliance in play therapy supervision upon therapist's self-efficacy and it has examined each mediation effect of curer's self-disclosure and sub-variations of self-disclosure.
The targets of this research were 111 therapists, who have taken individual supervision at least three times with more than one supervisor or who are taking now. In regards of measurements, the adapted measurement by Son Eun-jung and others(2006) of the SWAT-T(Supervision Working Alliance Inventory-Trainee version) by Bahrick(1990)has been used to measure supervision working alliance. Next, supervisor closure measurement developed by Son Seung-hee(2004) has been used to measure therapist's self-disclosure. Also, to measure therapist's self-efficacy, the retouched and supplemented measurement by Lee Yoon-soo(2001) of the COSE(Counseling Self-Estimate Inventory) by Larson(1992) after it was translated by Hong Soo-hyun(2001). The data has been analyzed by using SAS statistical program and frequency and percentage have been measured to understand targets' general characteristics. To analyze the data, correlation, regression and multiple regression have been carried out.
The results of the study are as follows. First, the more strongly the play therapy working alliance is formed, the more highly therapist's self-efficacy would become. Second, the more strongly working alliance is formed in supervision, the more therapists would disclose themselves. Third, it has shown that therapist's self-disclosure is partially mediated between supervision working alliance and therapist's self-efficacy. And, as results of verifying mediation effect of sub-variations, it has shown that 'reaction to supervisor's feedback' is mediated.
These results suggest that for supervisor and supervisee to make positive and faithful relation will be a foundation of supervisee's growth and will increase the effects of supervision. Also, the play therapy supervision working alliance influences on therapist's self-efficacy more, when therapists disclose themselves more, just it influences on therapist's self-efficacy in itself. Especially, it suggests that the more reactions about supervisor's feedback is opened, the more therapist's self-efficacy would increase.
Finally, this study is meaningful that it has studied about characteristics of supervision in the domain of child psychotherapy, which barely has concrete studies about process and results of supervision. Also, it is meaningful that it accelerates therapist's development as experts by searching a process of professional growth by supervision experiences of play therapist, and eventually, it provides concrete data for establishing play therapy supervision model, which can improve the effect of play therapy.
