상담 수퍼비전에서 상담자의 자각이 상담과정에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Counselors' Awareness in Supervision on the Counseling Process

The purpose of this study is to determine what is the awareness of the counselor through the supervision and how that awareness helps the counselor in the process of counseling. For this, eight intern counselors under clinical training at the counseling center have been selected to participate in this study, and they underwent in-depth interviews for data collection; the collected data was analyzed qualitatively according to Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis method. The following are the study results regarding the influence that the counselor's awareness during his/her counseling supervision has had in the counseling process. First, the positive experiences that helped the awareness of the participants were described as ‘getting recognition’, ‘getting different experiences of instruction’, ‘experiencing through feedbacks’ and ‘negative experience’. Second, during the counseling supervision the participants realized the importance of their awareness, the knowledge about their emotional issues and how this can influence their counseling process. Third, participants improved their counseling skills through awareness in counseling supervision. Some of the improved skills during counseling supervision were demonstrated in six aspect namely, ‘extension of counseling skills’, ‘counseling respecting the patient's pace’, ‘expressing their emotions’, ‘helping the patient's emotional awareness’, ‘getting empathetic and supportive’, ‘help in solving patient's problems’. Thus, it would be right to say that the awareness of the counselor in counseling supervision will positively influence the counselor's counseling process. It is hoped that the findings of this study will become the basis in developing a counseling supervision model in training professional counselors through the counseling training center. Study results in counseling supervision experience, knowledge and information through supervision, extension of consultation skills through the awareness in supervision were discussed. The study's limitations and suggestions for future research are suggested.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 상담 수퍼비전에서의 경험을 통해 상담자가 자각하는 내용이 무엇인지, 그 자각한 내용이 상담자의 상담과정에 어떻게 도움이 되는지를 밝히고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 현재 상담센터에서 임상수련중인 인턴 상담사 8명을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 심층적인 인터뷰로 자료를 수집하였고, Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구 절차에 따라 질적 분석을 하였다. 상담 수퍼비전에서의 상담자의 자각이 상담과정에 미친 영향에 대한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상담 수퍼비전에서 참여자들의 자각에 도움이 되는 경험으로는 ‘인정받은 경험’, ‘다양하게 지도를 받은 경험’, ‘피드백을 통한 경험’, ‘부정적인 경험’ 등으로 나타났다. 둘째, 참여자들은 상담 수퍼비전에서 상담자 자신에 대한 자각과 상담자의 감정문제에 대한 자각, 상담 과정에 대한 중요성을 자각하였다. 셋째, 참여자들은 상담 수퍼비전에서의 자각을 통해서 상담 능력이 확장되었다. 상담 수퍼비전에서의 자각을 통해 확장된 참여자들의 상담능력으로는 ‘상담자의 자기인식을 통한 내담자 이해’와 ‘내담자를 따라가는 상담’, ‘감정을 표현하게 됨’, ‘내담자의 정서적 자각에 도움’, ‘공감과 지지를 하게 됨’과 ‘내담자의 문제 해결에 도움’ 등 여섯 가지가 발견되었다. 이는 상담 수퍼비전에서 상담자의 자각이 상담자의 상담과정에 긍정적인 효과를 미친다고 해석할 수 있다. 본 연구가 상담 수련센터를 통해 수련을 받게 되는 상담자들에게 효과적인 상담 수퍼비전을 제공하기 위한 전문적인 상담자를 양성하는 상담 수퍼비전의 모형을 만드는 기초자료가 될 것으로 기대한다. 연구결과는 상담 수퍼비전에서의 경험, 수퍼비전을 통해서 자각한 내용, 수퍼비전에서의 자각을 통한 상담 능력의 확장에 관하여 논의하였고, 연구의 제한점과 후속연구에 대한 제안이 제시되었다.
