노인의 노인인권개념 인식과 침해 경험에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Awareness of Elderly People on Human Rights and Human Rights Abuse

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the human rights awareness of elderly people and their perception of the infringement of the elderly's human rights, the causes of the violation of the elderly's human rights, and to seek ways of preventing the infringement of the elderly's human rights. The subjects in this study were 445 senior citizens and 544 male and female adults who ever maintained elderly people. A self-administered survey was conducted, and the following findings were given: First, the human rights awareness of the elderly people was sort of good, but they didn't know well about the abuse of the elderly's human rights. Second, they didn't have much experience to be abused in terms of human rights, and they thought their human rights were violated because of their poor economic abilities. Third, the most common experiences that the senior citizens underwent after their human rights were infringed were getting disappointed about themselves, feeling helpless and loss of self. They didn't actively responded to that on the ground that it was a personal matter. In conclusion, the development of programs that focus on the elderly's right rather than their needs is required to boost their quality of life in the sector of senior welfare.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 대전광역시 소재 5개소의 종합복지관을 이용하고 있는 65세 이상 노인들을 대상으로 그들이 느끼는 인권개념과 그 침해경험 및 대응에 대해 조사하였다. 노인의 사회적 위상에 대한 노인들의 인식은 여자 노인이 남자 노인보다 노인의 사회적 위상이 높다고 인식하였으며 노인 인권침해 문제 심각 정도는 5점 만점 중 전체 평균이 5점 척도중 3.54로, 노인들은 우리 사회의 노인 인권침해 문제가 심각하다고 인식하였다. 노인인권침해의 지각과 경험에서 노인의 정서적 인권침해 지각과 경험을 노인들은 ‘원하는 것을 해 주지 않거나 원하지 않는 것을 강요하는 행위(67%)’에 대해 높은 정서적 인권침해의 지각을 보였으며, ‘사회활동참여 방해’(59.8%)에 대해 낮은 지각을 보였다. 아울러 현 세대의 노인들은 자신이 누릴 수 있는 권리에 대한 교육을 받거나 들을 기회가 없었기 때문에 자신의 권리가 무엇인지도 모르고 있는 경우가 많다. 따라서 노인을 대상으로 한 인권교육 프로그램을 개발하여 적극 실시하고 노인들의 인권의식의 강화에 기여하고 노인 스스로 자신의 권리를 찾기 위한 노권운동을 전개해 나갈 수 있는 계기가 마련될 것이 제안되었다.
