통제소재, 미래시간조망, 그릿(grit)과 지연의 관계 분석 = An Analysis of Relationship among Locus of Control, Future Time Perspective, Grit and Procrastination

Procrastination is the tendency to delay initiation or completion of important tasks(Lay, 1986), and acts as a negative factor in the achievement and growth. Procrastination is an almost universal human tendency, but is poorly understood. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relations among locus of control, future time perspective, grit, and procrastination. Two hundred and four high school students completed Locus of control scale, Future time perspective scale, Grit scale, and Procrastination scale.
The results of this study were as follows: First, locus of control, future time perspective, and grit were negatively correlated with procrastination respectively.
Second, future time perspective fully mediated the relation from locus of control to procrastination, and grit fully mediated the relation from locus of control to procrastination.
Third, path analysis showed that 1) locus of control had a statistically significant direct effect on future time perspective and grit respectively, 2) future time perspective had a statistically significant direct effect on grit and procrastination respectively, 3) grit had a significant direct effect on procrastination, 4) future time perspective and grit doubly mediated the relation from locus of control to procrastination.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지연은 중요한 일의 시작이나 완성을 의도적으로 미루는 경향성으로, 개인의 성취나 성장에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 요인으로 작용한다. 지연은 대부분의 인간에서 나타나는 보편적인 경향성이지만, 아직까지 명쾌하게 이해되지 못하고 있다는 지적이 있다. 이 연구는 통제소재, 미래시간조망, 그릿(grit)이 지연에 어떤 영향을 주는지 규명하는 데 목적이 있다. 이 연구의 구체적인 목적은 첫째, 통제소재, 미래시간조망, 그릿과 지연 간의 상관관계를 분석하고, 둘째, 미래시간조망은 통제소재가 지연에 미치는 영향을 완전매개하는지, 그리고 그릿은 통제소재가 지연에 미치는 영향을 완전매개하는지 검증하고, 셋째, 미래시간조망 및 그릿은 통제소재가 지연에 미치는 영향을 이중매개하는지 검증하는 데 있다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 2015년 10월 둘째 주에 경상북도 북부지역에 소재하고 있는 2개 고등학교에서 표집한 고등학교 1학년 204명에게 통제소재 척도, 미래시간조망 척도, 그릿 척도, 지연 척도를 실시하여 자료를 수집, 분석했다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 통제소재, 미래시간조망, 그릿은 각각 지연과 부적 상관이 있었다. 둘째, 위계적 회귀분석 결과 미래시간조망은 통제소재가 지연에 미치는 영향을 완전매개했고, 그릿은 통제소재가 지연에 미치는 영향을 완전매개했다. 셋째, 경로분석 결과 미래시간조망 및 그릿은 통제소재가 지연에 미치는 영향을 이중매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 결론을 도출하고 제언을 논의하였다.
