재외동포 청소년의 정체성 함양을 위한 문화체험 프로그램의 방향 고찰 = A Study on the Direction of Cultural Experience Program for Cultivating Identity of Overseas Koreans

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Overseas Korean youths can contribute diversity to their resident society. To do this, they must have a good understanding of the cultural background of their home country and its current state. Through this understanding, it is possible to establish a dual identity that can include self-concept and collective identity and can be fused with the culture of their resident country. Therefore, this study examined the “content” and “method” of cultural experience for cultivating their identity. In addition, the contents of the cultural training of overseas Korean youths in Korea is reviewed and its problems are summarized. While these programs meet the purpose of understanding and experiencing individual culture, there were limitations in one - time experiences and field trips. In response to these limitations, this article presents the spiritual culture factors of Korea as “content” for improving the direction of cultural experience. It is a necessary to consider what kind of spiritual cultural elements can be reflected when selecting a place for cultural experience or related activity. In addition, the “method” sets the stage of cultural experience as a cross cultural approach, allowing us to conduct comparisons and discussion activities before and after the experience. It is also possible to organize as many activities as is feasible into a teams format. Through these processes, Overseas Korean youths will be able to actively understand and internalize Korean culture through intercultural comparisons with different cultures, assisting in the process of identity formation.
