키덜트(Kidult) 이미지를 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션 연구 = A Study on Fashion Illustrations using kidult Images

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

A 'kidult' means an adult who wants to keep the innocence of childhood even after growing up and it is considered as a culture derived from a desire of moderners to escape from excessive pressure and stress from the society and looking for something light and fun rather than heavy or serious. Based on the theoretical review of kidult, the present study aimed to develop fashion illustration that emphasizes joyfulness, childlikeness and simplicity of kidult by using collage among many fashion illustration techniques, all of which are intended to create a art work that can arouse pure human emotion to the public. In addition, it attempts to develop a fashion illustration designed for decoration with kidult images, creating an unique domain of kidult illustration and proposing a new direction to it.
This study builds a theoretical background through literature research, and then creates illustrations based on the theory. For the theoretical background of this study, the present study reviewed the concept and emerging background of kidult through precedent studies. And it analyzed the characteristics of fashion illustration applying kidult images.
Based on the theoretical background, fashion illustrations, using childish collages of color paper and vivid colors, were developed for effective expression of kidult images.
The following results were found.
First, the examination of precedent studies upon kidult in visual art revealed the categorization of the characteristics of new concept into joyfulness, childlikeness, simplicity, diversity and fantasy and that such distinctions were expressed in fashion illustrations in diverse ways. Second, the fashion illustrations with kidult images aroused unexpected fun and curiosity and enabled to have free imagination and dream beyond fixed frame of idea to which adults are mostly confined. In addition, they allowed readers to feel their minds escaping from constraints and their innocence of child to newly emerge in an intimate manner.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

키덜트는 어른이 된 이후에도 어린이의 동심 세계를 유지하고 싶어 하는 것을 말하며 현대인들의 과도한 중압감과 스트레스에서 벗어나고자 하는 문화로써 무겁고 진지한 것 대신 즐거움과 재미를 추구하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 키덜트에 관한 이론적 고찰을 바탕으로 다양한 패션 일러스트레이션의 기법 중 꼴라주(collage)기법을 응용하여 키덜트의 유희성과 유아성, 단순성을 강조한 패션 일러스트레이션을 개발하여 대중들로 하여금 순수한 인간의 감성을 불러일으킬 수 있는 작품을 제작하고자 한다. 또한 키덜트 이미지를 장식목적의 패션 일러스트레이션으로 개발하여 패션 일러스트레이션의 독자적인 영역을 확고히 하고 새로운 방향성을 제시하는데 목적이 있다.
본 연구는 문헌조사에 의한 이론적 배경과 그것을 토대로 한 작품 제작으로 구성하였다. 이론적 배경으로는 키덜트의 개념 및 발생배경을 살펴보았으며 시각 예술에 나타난 키덜트의 선행연구와 키덜트 이미지를 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션의 특성을 분석하였다.
이를 토대로 본 연구의 작품 제작은 키덜트 이미지의 효과적인 표현을 위해 색종이를 자른 듯한 유아적 표현의 꼴라주 기법을 사용하였으며 단순하고 명확한 형태와 비비드(vivid) 컬러를 이용하여 키덜트 이미지를 극대화 하고자 하였다.
본 연구의 연구 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
첫째, 시각예술에 나타난 키덜트의 선행 연구를 통해 키덜트의 특성은 유희성, 유아성, 단순성, 다양성, 환상성으로 나누어 볼 수 있었으며 이런 특성들이 패션 일러스트레이션에도 다양한 형태로 표현됨을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 키덜트 이미지 패션 일러스트레이션은 예상치 못한 재미와 호기심을 유발하며 성인들의 관습적 사고의 틀을 넘어 자유로운 상상과 꿈을 갖게 한다. 또한 정신의 자유와 해방감을 느끼게 하여 보는 사람으로 하여금 내부의 동심이 새롭게 드러나고 친근하게 다가감을 알 수 있었다.
