키덜트적 모티브를 활용한 회화에 관한 연구 : 본인작품 'visual_space conceptual'시리즈를 중심으로 = (A) Study on the paintings using kidult style motive : focused on my works, 'visual_space conceptual' series

This study analyzes the theory and forming background for my work, visual_space conceptual series. The recent art has seen its deep involvement with society in various cultural forms and the trend is inevitably led to some confusions among art itself, which creates paintings of kidult style motive. This study looks for new painting areas through kidult style motive as follows;
First, I analyze the images of fantasy and memory in my childhood which are reflected on my works through various kidult style motives where intuitive composition and colors are used to express mental sympathy between the artist and viewers beyond time and space.
Second, in my works are involved humors for amusing, kidult style elements of satisfaction and cuteness, various colors and materials, interesting streamline shapes, characters, numbers and alphabet graffiti items for the purpose of revealing kidult style sensual aesthetic value of them; stimulating visual sense through their transformation; showing humor's aesthetic value, its resistance to any restrictions by patch-working and quilting; and trying to reduce the severity on which our reality imposes us pursuing visual satisfaction by distinguishing amusement and interest.
Third, I was inspired by Jean Dubuffe, who said "Art cannot be isolated from human being and has to explain their life itself" and by Jean Michel Basquiat who was popular with his works of such graffiti as symbols and alphabets.
For analysis of the forms of the works, fourth, I looked into the screens of my works that would symbolize the past, presence and future by overlapping drawings and collages that were transformed based on modern formative principles.
As mentioned above, I seek rather light, pretty and amusing works than serious ones through kidult style motives. I, however, should seriously think of the true inherent meaning of such kidult style motives rather than taking their look only.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 본인의 작품‘visual_space conceptual’연작에 대한 이론 및 형성배경을 분석한 논문이다. 최근 예술은 다양한 모습의 사회문화로 자리매김을 하고 있으며, 이런 영향 때문에 예술의 영역 또한 서로 융화되는 과정에서 키덜트적 모티브를 활용한 회화가 표현되고 있다. 본 연구에서 본인이 키덜트적 모티브를 통한 새로운 회화영역을 연구 하고자 하는 것은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 키덜트적인 다양한 모티브를 통해 내면의 세계를 표현하고자 어릴 적 환상과 옛 추억의 이미지를 작품 속에 반영시켜, 시공간을 초월하고, 작품 속에 원색적인 색감과 자유로운 구도를 통해서 대중과 함께 정신적 공감을 갖고자 한다.
둘째, 유머를 표현함으로서 즐거움과 재미를 주고 거리감을 해소하고 시각적 만족과 귀여움을 추구하는 키덜트적 요소를 내포시키면서 화려하고 다양한 색채와 소재, 유선형의 재미있는 형태, 캐릭터, 숫자와 알파벳 그라피티의 유머러스한 일러스트 아이템을 응용하여 키덜트적 감각의 미적가치를 부각시키고, 변형을 통해 시선을 자극하며, 패치워크 하거나 퀼팅의 방법으로 유머의 미적 가치인 탈 구속성을 보여주고, 재미와 흥미를 본인작품에서 중요한 요소로 부각시켜 현실의 무게와 심각성을 덜어주고자 한다.
셋째, 선행 연구 작가로는‘예술이 인간과 동떨어진 것이 아닌 인간의 모습을 담아야 한다고’했던 장 뒤뷔페(Jean Dubuffe)와 작품 속에 어린이들이 많이 다루는 기호, 알파벳 등의 낙서를 통해 대중과 친숙했던 장 바스키아(Jean Michel Basquiat)를 본인작품과 관련성이 있다고 판단되어 선택 연구하였다.
넷째, 작품의 형식 분석으로, 현대적인 조형의 원리를 바탕으로 변형시킨 드로잉과 색채 및 꼴라쥬등을 화면에서 중첩시켜 과거, 현재, 미래라는 시간과 공간을 상징하는 본인화면을 살펴보았다.
이처럼 본연구자는 키덜트적 모티브를 통해 진지한 것 보다는 가볍고 예쁘면서 재미있는 작품을 추구한다. 그러나「키덜트적 모티브의 표피만 받아들일 것이 아니라, 그 속에 내재되어 있는 진정한 의미란 무엇인가?」를 신중하게 생각해야 할 것이다.
