Asahina, Yuki,Higuchi, Naoto World Association for Triple Helix and Future Stra 2020 Journal of Contemporary Eastern Asia Vol.19 No.2
Trends toward an influx of new migrants have been pronounced in East Asia through a development we call the third round of migrant incorporation. At the same time, other features of East Asian societies, such as strong levels of ethnic nationalism, have changed little, posing challenges to multiculturalism. In this introduction to this special issue, we review the latest research trends broadly concerning multiculturalism, migrant groups that have received little attention, racism and xenophobia. We first discuss the state of migrant incorporation in East Asia and the limits of multiculturalism in this region, where various features of the developmental state persist. We then introduce research on voices opposing multiculturalism in East Asia. This introduction highlights what is peculiar―and ordinary―about migrant incorporation and the associated challenges in East Asia.

<P>Cytochrome <I>c</I>3 possesses four hemes in a compact configuration and exhibits extremely low reduction potentials. Besides the well-characterized factors contributing to the reduction potentials, the aromatic rings have been suggested to be involved. To elucidate its mechanism, the effect of mutations at conserved and noncoordinated aromatic residues on the reduction/oxidation properties of heme irons was investigated on the basis of crystal structures, NMR spectra of coordinated His, and reduction potentials. Phe20 parallel to heme 1 is the most conserved residue. On its mutation, the change in each coordination structure was subtle in the crystal structures despite of significant changes in the NMR spectra and reduction potentials. Significant increases in the reduction potentials of heme 1 led to the conclusion that the aromatic ring of Phe20 stabilizes the polarization of the π-electron density induced by the oxidized iron in the same heme. Furthermore, the reduction potential of heme 2 was also affected by the mutation at Phe20, revealing that the electrostatic interaction between the π-electron system of the porphyrin and a distant iron contributes to the iron reduction potential. This kind of interaction provides new insight into the role of the heme architecture in regulation of the reduction potentials.</P>
A Hybrid Method to Improve Forecasting Accuracy Utilizing Genetic Algorithm
Hiromasa Takeyasu,Yuki Higuchi,Kazuhiro Takeyasu 대한산업공학회 2013 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.12 No.3
In industries, shipping is an important issue in improving the forecasting accuracy of sales. This paper introduces a hybrid method and plural methods are compared. Focusing the equation of exponential smoothing method (ESM) that is equivalent to (1, 1) order autoregressive-moving-average (ARMA) model equation, a new method of estimating the smoothing constant in ESM had been proposed previously by us which satisfies minimum variance of forecasting error. Generally, the smoothing constant is selected arbitrarily. However, this paper utilizes the above stated theoretical solution. Firstly, we make estimation of ARMA model parameter and then estimate the smoothing constant. Thus, theoretical solution is derived in a simple way and it may be utilized in various fields. Furthermore, combining the trend removing method with this method, we aim to improve forecasting accuracy. This method is executed in the following method. Trend removing by the combination of linear and 2nd order nonlinear function and 3rd order nonlinear function is executed to the original production data of two kinds of bread. Genetic algorithm is utilized to search the optimal weight for the weighting parameters of linear and nonlinear function. For comparison, the monthly trend is removed after that. Theoretical solution of smoothing constant of ESM is calculated for both of the monthly trend removing data and the non-monthly trend removing data. Then forecasting is executed on these data. The new method shows that it is useful for the time series that has various trend characteristics and has rather strong seasonal trend. The effectiveness of this method should be examined in various cases.
Analysis of Questionnaire Investigation on SNS Utilizing Bayesian Network

Social Networking Service (SNS) is prevailing rapidly in Japan in recent years. The most popular ones are Facebook, mixi, and Twitter, which are utilized in various fields of life together with the convenient tool such as smart-phone. In this work, a questionnaire investigation is carried out in order to clarify the current usage condition, issues and desired functions. More than 1,000 samples are gathered. Bayesian network is utilized for this analysis. After conducting the sensitivity analysis, useful results are obtained. Differences in usage objectives and SNS sitesare made clear by the attributes and preference of SNS users. They can be utilized effectively for marketing by clarifying the target customer through the sensitivity analysis.

Analysis of The Behavior of Kurtosis By Simplified Model of One Sided Affiliated Impact Vibration
Takeyasu, Kazuhiro,Higuchi, Yuki Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers 2005 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.4 No.2
Among many amplitude parameters, Kurtosis (4-th normalized moment of probability density function) is recognized to be the sensitive good parameter for machine diagnosis. Kurtosis has a value of 3.0 under normal condition and the value generally goes up as the deterioration proceeds. In this paper, simplified calculation method of kurtosis is introduced for the analysis of impact vibration with one sided affiliated impact vibration which occurs towards the progress of time. That phenomenon is often watched in the failure of such as bearings’ outer race. One sided affiliated impact vibration is approximated by one sided triangle towards the progress of time and simplified calculation method is introduced. Varying the shape of one sided triangle, various models are examined and it is proved that new index is a sensitive good index for machine failure diagnosis. Utilizing this method, the behavior of kurtosis is forecasted and analyzed while watching machine condition and correct diagnosis is executed.
