Numerical simulation of gas-solid flow in the axisymmetric inlets square separator

        Diao Yong-Fa,Li Xun,Gu Ping-Dao,Li Hao 한국화학공학회 2009 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.26 No.3

Numerical simulation was used to research the two-phase flow in the axisymmetric inlet square separator, including the basic flow characteristics, separation efficiency and comparing the difference between single-inlet and double-inlet separator. The effect of the reflecting cone’s geometrical sizes on pressure loss and efficiency was discussed. And the wall erosion condition because of solid particle impingement was calculated and analyzed. The tangential inlet diffuse square separator using RSM modeling that considers anisotropic situation was researched. The distribution of axial, tangential and radial velocity and the pressure loss calculated were analyzed. The results show that there is the typical double deck flow structure in the separator, the square section influences the tangential velocity in the corner, the pressure distribution divides in the inlet on the reflecting cone, and the pressure loss increases with the increase of inlet velocity.

Regeneration dynamics of potassium-based sediment sorbents for CO2 capture

        Yong-fa Diao,Li-wei Wang,Lin-lin Wang,Xiao-fang Shi,Xiao-yan Tai 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.8

Simulating regeneration tests of Potassium-Based sorbents that supported by Suzhou River Channel Sediment were carried out in order to obtain parameters of regeneration reaction. Potassium-based sediment sorbents have a better morphology with the surface area of 156.73 m2·g−1, the pore volume of 357.5×10−3 cm3·g−1 and the distribution of pore diameters about 2-20 nm. As a comparison, those of hexagonal potassium-based sorbents are only 2.83 m2g−1,7.45×10−3 cm3g−1 and 1.72-5.4 nm, respectively. TGA analysis shows that the optimum final temperature of regeneration is 200 and the optimum loading is about 40%, with the best heating rate of 10 oC·min−1. By the modified Coats-Redfern integral method, the activation energy of 40% KHCO3 sorbents is 102.43 kJ·mol−1. The results obtained can be used as basic data for designing and operating CO2 capture process.

      • Quality of Life and Radiotherapy Complications of Chinese Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Patients at Different 3DCRT Stages

        Gu, Mo-Fa,Su, Yong,Chen, Xin-Lin,He, Wei-Ling,He, Zhen-Yu,Li, Jian-Jun,Chen, Miao-Qiu,Mo, Chuan-Wei,Xu, Qian,Diao, Yuan-Ming Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.1

Purpose: the study aimed to compare the quality of life (QOL) and radiotherapy complications among Chinese nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients at different 3-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) stages adjusting for other variables. Methods: 511 NPC patients at different 3DCRT stages were enrolled. They were interviewed regarding SF-36, complications and socio-demographic variables and cancer- or treatment-related variables. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) based on SF-36, complications scores as dependent variables, 3DCRT stages as independent variables, and other variables as covariate were established. Results: The influencing factors of PCS included 3DCRT stages and age group. The influencing factors of MCS included 3DCRT stages and income. Most QOL scores of NPC patients were significantly associated with 3DCRT stage, after accounting for other variables. QOL scores of the patients receiving 3DCRT were the lowest, QOL scores of people after 3DCRT gradually increased. PCS scores of people greater than 5 years after 3DCRT was improved to or even better than the level before 3DCRT. The complications with significantly different scores of patients at different 3DCRT status included xerostomia, throat ache, hypogeusia, caries, hearing loss, snuffles. Conclusions: Clinicians should pay more attention to older NPC patients and patients with lower income. When patients receive 3DCRT, measures should be taken to reduce radiation injury to improve the patients' QOL.
