The wide hybridization in Brassicae have been studied to diversify genetic resources by many scientists for a ling time form the beginning of the 20th century. However, the research results to obtain new crops are not so much achieved yet Only 2 new crops, "Radicole" and "Raparadish," from intergeneric hybridization and one new variety, "Hakuran," and several cu1tivars, "Panter", "Norde" and "Silona" from interspecific crosses merely between Raphanus sativus, Brassica campestris and B. oleracea were deyeloped and their common name were given as above. Since techniques on plant tissue culture and cytogenetics are recently improved very rapid1y, obtaining hybrid plants from wide crosses, acquiring inbreds from hybrids and solving the sterility of the hybrids are easier than before. Therefore, useful amphidiploid plants will be bred much more in the near future between other varieties and/or subspecies of the above mentioned genus and species and another cu1tivating and wild genus and species Besides, new crops or cultivars of chromosome addition, chromosome substitution, nuclear substitution and gene recombination originated from the wide cross will be also released.
