Vol.40 No.4

This study attempted to investigate and analyze the activity form of FT(functional torque), MMT(net muscular torque), SET(stored energy torque) of lumbar extensor strength of patient group with CLBP and control group was healthy, using the lumbar extension machine(Medex). As a result, the following conclusion was drawn :1. FT and NMT was significantly lower in the group of patients with CLBP than it was in the control group(p<.01)2. SET was significantly lower than patient group, as a part of angle, SET was significant difference every measured(p<.01), but exception of maximal extension(0°)3. In both group, it was found that the extensor strength in accordance with the angles of flexion of the trunk(0∼60°) was high as the angles of flexion of trunk was large and low as they were small.4. stiffness was significantly higher in the group of patient with CLBP than it was in the control group(p<.01).

운동생리학 : 유산소성 운동이 흰쥐의 혈청 leptin 농도와 면역세포에 미치는 영향

        서진희(SeoJin-Hee),소재무(SoJae-Moo) 한국체육학회 2005 한국체육학회지 Vol.44 No.3

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of moderate aerobic training on the change of plasma leptin and immune cell in rats. To this end, the concentration of plasma leptin was measured in the whole blood. T cell(CD4+, CD8+, CD4+/CD8+), B cell and NK cells were enumerated with flowcytometery. To investigate the influence of the moderate training on the male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly separated into the control group(CG) and the exercise group(EG) of 7 rats in each. The exercise regimen consisted of treadmill running for 60 min per day at the speed of 25m/min, 5 days per week for 9 weeks. The body wight, perirenal adipose tissue and epididymal adipose tissue of exercise group were markedly lower than those of CG(p<.01). The plasma leptin level in the blood of EG was significantly lower than those of CG(p<.01). The CD4+ T-cells in thymus of EG was remarkably increased compared to those of CG(p<.01). These data show the possible interrelationship between leptin level and immune cell population during long term exercise. But the CD 8+ T cells, CD4+/CD8+ T cells ratio in the thymus were not changed significantly in either EG or CG. The CD4+/CD8+ T cells ratio in the spleen of EG was significantly higher than CG. We demonstrate that the immune modulation by moderate exercise training may be in part mediated through leptin receptor in circulating CD4+ T lymphocytes, and a functional role of leptin as a modulator (enhancer) of lymphocytes stimulation might be associated with the changes of relevant cytokine excretion by the moderate exercise training.

Central energy metabolism remains robust in acute steatotic hepatocytes challenged by a high free fatty acid Load

        ( Jens Niklas ),( Anne Bonin ),( Stefanie Mangin ),( Joachim Bucher ),( Stephanie Kopacz ),( Madlen Matz-soja ),( Carlo Thiel ),( Rolf Gebhardt ),( Ute Hofmann ),( Klaus Mauch ) 생화학분자생물학회(구 한국생화학분자생물학회) 2012 BMB Reports Vol.45 No.7

Overnutrition is one of the major causes of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). NAFLD is characterized by an accumulation of lipids (triglycerides) in hepatocytes and is often accompanied by high plasma levels of free fatty acids (FFA). In this study, we compared the energy metabolism in acute steatotic and non-steatotic primary mouse hepatocytes. Acute steatosis was induced by pre-incubation with high concentrations of oleate and palmitate. Labeling experiments were conducted using [U-13C5,U-15N2] glutamine. Metabolite concentrations and mass isotopomer distributions of intracellular metabolites were measured and applied for metabolic flux estimation using transient 13C metabolic flux analysis. FFAs were efficiently taken up and almost completely incorporated into triglycerides (TAGs). In spite of high FFA uptake rates and the high synthesis rate of TAGs, central energy metabolism was not significantly changed in acute steatotic cells. Fatty acid β-oxidation does not significantly contribute to the detoxification of FFAs under the applied conditions. [BMB Reports 2012; 45(7): 396-401]

      • Combined application of biochar, compost, and bacterial consortia with Italian ryegrass enhanced phytoremediation of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil

        Hussain, Fida,Hussain, Imran,Khan, Aqib Hassan Ali,Muhammad, Yousaf Shad,Iqbal, Mazhar,Soja, Gerhard,Reichenauer, Thomas Gerhard,Zeshan, Thomas Gerhard,Yousaf, Sohail Elsevier 2018 Environmental and experimental botany Vol.153 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Petroleum hydrocarbons are extensively utilized in petrochemical industries and cause soil deterioration during exploration, transportation, refining and making petroleum products. We hypothesized that the combined use of compost, biochar and bacterial consortia as soil amendments may enhance the rhizoremediation potential of ryegrass by strengthening the plant rhizospheric effect for efficient total petroleum hydrocarbon removal. The present study focused on phytoremediation of hydrocarbons in spiked contaminated soil amended with biochar (5% v/v), and compost (5% v/v). Spiked soil was inoculated with consortia of four hydrocarbon degrading bacterial strains (<I>Pseudomonas poae, Actinobacter bouvetii, Stenotrophomonas rhizophila</I> and <I>Pseudomonas rhizosphaerae</I>). The spiked soil was prepared by spiking agricultural soil with 3.4% (w/w) of crude oil. Italian ryegrass (60 seeds pot−1) were sown and plants were harvested after 75 days.</P> <P>The highest hydrocarbon removal (85%) was observed in spiked soil amended with compost, biochar and consortia. Bacterial inoculation with biochar and compost showed significantly higher hydrocarbon degradation as compared to all other treatments. Highest TPHs degrading bacteria (5.74 × 107 cells g−1 of soil) were observed in rhizosphere of spiked soil amended with compost, biochar and consortia. The organic amendments improved plant growth and bacterial count in rhizosphere which resulted in higher removal of hydrocarbons. We concluded that plant-microbe interactions together with the organic soil amendments offer an emerging trend for remediation of hydrocarbons. Rhizoremediation is a green solution to overcome the quandary of total petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in soil.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Biochar and compost amendment enhanced rhizosphere effect. </LI> <LI> TPHs Rhizoremediation is improved by bacterial consortia and organic amendments. </LI> <LI> The organic amendments improved plant growth and bacterial count in rhizosphere. </LI> <LI> Compost is a rich source of bacteria in the rhizosphere. </LI> </UL> </P>
