      • Status of Alien Plant Species in the Seongeup Folk Village in Jeju Island

        The study performed flora investigation for 3 times on seasonal basis between April and October 2012 in Seongeup Folk Village, Pyoseon-myeon, Jeju-si designated as No. 188 of the National Major Folk Cultural Asset to analyze distribution and features of alien plants and categorized naturalized plants to calculate the naturalized index and the urbanization index. The tracheophytes of the village is 201 taxa including 80 families, 175 genus, 183 species, 14 varieties, 2 plants and 2 subspecies and the alien plants account for 32.8% with 66 taxa including 37 families, 60 genus, 63 species, 2 varieties and 1 subspecies and the naturalized plants have a total of 27 taxa including 14 families, 24 genus, 26 species and 1 variety. The naturalized index of the 321 taxa of the naturalized plants was 13.4% and the urbanization index was 8.4%. Systematic plans to manage plants in the Seongeup Folk Village are required, as well as gradually eliminate alien and naturalized plants and replace them with indigenes.

      • Adaptation of p-Cycle considering QoS Constraints in WDM Networks

        본 논문은 WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) 망에서 서비스 품질에 따른 제약조건을 고려하였을 때 장애 복구에 적용될 수 있도록 개선된 p-cycle(preconfigured protection cycle) 기법을 제안한다. 기존의 p-cycle에서는 양방향으로 동일한 대역폭을 가지는 연결만을 고려하기 때문에 단방향 멀티캐스팅이나 양방향으로 서로 다른 대역폭을 사용하는 경우에는 적용하기 어려운 문제점이 있다. 또한 대체 경로의 서비스 품질은 고려하지 않으므로 장애 발생 시 대체 경로에서 서비스 품질을 만족시킬 수 없을 수 있다는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 단방향 멀티캐스팅이나 양방향 비대칭 대역폭을 사용하는 광대역 멀티미디어 통신에서 사용되는 단방향 연결의 장애복구를 효율적으로 구현할 수 있도록 P-cycle 기법을 개선하였다. 또한 장애복구를 위한 대체 경로의 P-Cycle에서 서비스 품질을 보장할 수 있도록 하기 위해서 P-cycle 선정을 위한 새로운 절차를 제안한다. 단방향 연결 개념을 사용한 P-cycle을 적용함으로서 비대칭적인 대역폭을 사용하는 통신환경에서 장애 복구를 위해 요구되는 대역폭을 줄일 수 있었으며, 제안된 p-cycle 선정 절차에 의해 구성된 대체 경로가 서비스 품질을 보장할 수 있는지의 여부를 시험하기 위해서 미국 시험망에 적용하고 그 결과를 분석하였다. In this paper, we propose an enhanced p-cycle (preconfigured protection cycle) scheme for WDM mesh networks with QoS constraints. In the previous researches on p-cycle, it is assumed that user's connection has a hi-directional connectivity and the same bandwidth on both direction. Therefore it is difficult to apply p-cycle based link protection to uni-directional connections for multicasting or asymmetric broadband multimedia communications with hi-directional connectivity. And it didn't consider QoS of backup path. We enhanced the p-cycles to accomodate uni-directional connections for multicasting or asymmetric bandwidth communications with hi-directional connectivity. And we propose a selection procedure of p-cycle to assure QoS of backup path. We were able to reduce a required backup bandwidth by applying a uni-directional p-cycle concept to asymmetric broadband multimedia communication environment. The proposed p-cycle selection procedure is applied to the U.S. sample network to evaluate whether the configured p-cycles can support QoS constraint of working path and backup path.

      • Dispersion of Vascular Plant in Mt. Huiyangsan, Korea

        We surveyed that vascular plants can be classified into 90 families and 240 genus, 336 species, 69 variants, 22 forms, 3 subspecies, total 430 taxa. Dicotyledon plant is 80.9%, monocotyledon plant is 9.8%, Pteridophyta is 8.1%, Gymnosermae is 1.2% among the whole plant family. Rare and endangered plants are Crypsinus hastatus, Lilium distichum, Viola albida, Rhododendron micranthum, totalling four species. Endemic plants are Carex okamotoi, Salix koriyanagi for. koriyanagi, Clematis trichotoma, Thalictrum actaefolium var. brevistylum, Galium trachyspermum, Asperula lasiantha, Weigela subsessilis, Adenophora verticillata var. hirsuta, Aster koraiensis, Cirsium chanroenicum and Saussurea seoulensis total 11 taxa. Specialized plants are 20 classification for I class, 7 classifications for the II class, 7 classifications for the III class, 2 classification for the IV class, and 1 classification for the V class, total 84 taxa. Naturalized plants specified in this study are 10 types but Naturalization rate is not high compared to the area of BaekDu-DaeGan. This survey area is focused on the center of BaekDu-DaeGan, and it has been affected by excessive investigations and this area has been preserved as Buddhist temples' woods. Therefore, we need health care provisions and monitoring for this.

      • Distribution of Rare Plants- Ulsan, Busan, Yangsan

        A total of 15 rare plant species, including CR species of Abelia spathulata Siebold & Zucc., Tricularia yakusimensis Masam., Wikstroemia ganpi (Siebold & Zucc.) Maxim., EN species of Jeffersonia dubia (Maxim.) Benth. & Hook.f., Hololeion maximowiczii Kitam., Deutzia paniculata Nakai, VU species of Drosera rotundifolia L., Pogonia japonica Rchb.f., Euphorbia fauriei H.Lev. & Vaniot, LC species of Iris ensata var. spontanea (Makino) Nakai, Lysimachia coreana Nakai, Iris ensata var. spontanea (Makino) Nakai, Utricularia racemosa Wall. and DD species of Veronica pusanensis Y.Lee and Glaux maritima var. obtusifolia Fernald, were observed during the study conducted on the distribution of rare plant species in the Ulsan Busan Yangsan region. Of the 15 taxa, 3 were trees and 12 were herbs. 6 taxa (Tricularia yakusimensis Masam., Hololeion maximowiczii Kitam., Drosera rotundifolia L., Pogonia japonica Rchb.f., Iris ensata var. spontanea (Makino) Nakai, Utricularia racemosa Wall.) were those found in wetlands, 4 taxa (Wikstroemia ganpi (Siebold & Zucc.) Maxim., Jeffersonia dubia (Maxim.) Benth. & Hook.f., Lysimachia coreana Nakai, Iris ensata var. spontanea (Makino) Nakai) on mountain slopes, 3 taxa (Euphorbia fauriei H.Lev. & Vaniot, Veronica pusanensis Y.Lee, Glaux maritima var. obtusifolia Fernald) in the coastal region, and 2 taxa (Abelia spathulata Siebold & Zucc., Deutzia paniculata Nakai) in the valley area. In the case of rare plant species found in wetlands, there has been damage caused by coast elevation, forest road construction and farming, and in the case of other rare plant species, there has been damage caused by developments and other detrimental factors. Wikstroemia ganpi (Siebold & Zucc.) Maxim. and Veronica pusanensis Y.Lee are especially in need of protective measures, since their habitat is decreasing and they are being damaged via picking.

        Inheritance of Resistance to Bacterial Blight in Tongil Type Rice Cultivar 'Changseongbyeo'

        The inheritance of resistance to bacterial blight in a Tongil-type rice cultivar 'Changseongbyeo' was studied using a Korean isolate HB9101. which belongs to race $K_1$. The resistance of Changseongbyeo to the HB9101 was controlled by a single dominant gene. This gene was allelic with Xa-1 gene and linked to Ig gene on chromosome 4 with the recombination value of 7.5%.

      • Distribution of Rare Plants and Endemic Plants in Jirisan National Park

        The results of the study of the rare and regional species of the Jirisan (Mt.) Korea National Park has reported 3 CR species, including the Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum, 4 EN species, including Rhododendron tschonoskii, 7 VU species, including Cacalia pseudo-taimingasa, 11 LC species, including Lilium distichum, and 3 DD species, including Aconitum chiisanense, which makes a total of 28 species. In terms of species exclusive to the region, a total of 7 species, including Fraxinus chiisanensis, Pseudostellaria heterophylla, Filipendula formosa and Cirsium chanroenicum, were confirmed, and since they were distributed widely in the Jeonji region of Jirisan (Mt.), there was minimal damage. Since rare species are localized in the region of Agosan (Mt.), there has been continuous damage due to visitors and hikers to the area, and there seems to be the need to handle the decreasing habitat for Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum, Juniperus chinensis var. sargentii and Trientalis europaea.

      • Distribution of Vascular Plants in the Area of Muryongsan (mt.)

        The total number of taxa examined by this study was 489 taxa of 96 families, 395 genus, 394 species, 2 subspecies, 72 mutants, 17 taxa, 1 hybrid and 3 cultivars. Only the Utricularia yakusimensis was an endangered species as designated by the Ministry of Environment in the study area, and 5 species, including the Acorus calamus, Iris ensata var. spontanea, Drosera rotundifolia, Ultricularia racemosa and Lysimachia coreana were found as endangered species as designated by the Korea Forest Service. According to the IUCN standards, a single species of Utricularia yakusimensis among CR species, Drosera rotundifolia and the Pogonia minor among VU species and the Lysimachia coreana, Ultricularia racemosa, Acorus calamus and the Iris ensata var. spontanea among LC species were detected. The specialized plants in this study included 25 species in Class-I, 3 in Class-II, 7 in Class-III and 3 in Class-IV at a total of 38 species. In terms of naturalized plants in Muryongsan (mt.), a total of 27 taxa of 11 families and 24 genus were confirmed, and the naturalization rate of the total 489 species was calculated to be 5.5%. The area studied requires a high level of monitoring and restorative methods, since the area experience high level of nondiscriminatory usage by the residents of the Ulsan region, which has led to high degree of damage.

      • Dispersion of Vascular Plant in An-do, Korea

        The vascular plants observed in the area were composed of a total of 342 taxa; 104 families, 239 genus, 309 species, 30 varieties, 2 forms and 1 sub-species. The endangered species found in the area were Glehnia littoralis Fr. Schm. and Milletia japonica (Siebold & Zucc.) A.Gray. The five endemic plants were found growing in the area like Carpinus coreana Nakai., Celtis choseniana Nakai, Clematis trichotoma, Spiraea prunifolia for. simpliciflora and Weigela subsessilis L.H.Bailey. Specialized plants of Geumodo were a total of 45 species; 34 taxa in Grade I, 10 taxa in Grade III, and 1 taxon in Grade V. Glehnia littoralis Fr. Schm. and Milletia japonica (Siebold & Zucc.) A.Gray confirmed in this study formed a colony alongside the coast and mountain paths. Currently, the construction to build water supply and sewer systems destroyed part of the colony. Therefore, in the long-term perspective, the conservation plan such as comprehensive research and monitoring on the ecosystem shall be established to protect indeciduous plants in the warm temperate zone.
