      • Intelligent Prevent the Risk of Carcinoma of the Lung Progression

        Smog hanging over cities is the most familiar and obvious form of air pollution. The effects of inhaling particulate matter have been studied in humans and animals and include asthma, lung cancer, cardiovascular issues, and premature death. There are, however, some additional products of the combustion process that include nitrogen oxides and sulfur and some un-combusted hydrocarbons, depending on the operating conditions and the fuel-air ratio. Tuning the fuel to air ratio caused to control the lung cancer. Lung cancers are tumors arising from cells lining the airways of the respiratory system. Design of a robust nonlinear controller for automotive engine can be a challenging work. This research paper focuses on the design and analysis of a high performance PID like fuzzy controller for automotive engine, in certain and uncertain condition. The proposed approach effectively combines of design methods from linear Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller and fuzzy logic theory to improve the performance, stability and robustness of the automotive engine. To solve system’s dynamic nonlinearity, the PID fuzzy logic controller is used as a PID like fuzzy logic controller. The PID like fuzzy logic controller is updated based on gain updating factor. In this methodology, fuzzy logic controller is used to estimate the dynamic uncertainties. In this methodology, PID like fuzzy logic controller is evaluated. PID like fuzzy logic controller has three inputs, Proportional (P), Derivative (D), and Integrator (I), if each inputs have linguistic variables to defined the dynamic behavior, it has ×× linguistic variables. To solve this challenge, parallel structure of a PD-like fuzzy controller and PI-like fuzzy controller is evaluated. In the next step, the challenge of design PI and PD fuzzy rule tables are supposed to be solved. To solve this challenge PID like fuzzy controller is replaced by PD-like fuzzy controller with the integral term in output. This method is caused to design only PD type rule table for PD like fuzzy controller and PI like fuzzy controller.

        Fracture resistances of zirconia, cast Ni-Cr, and fiber-glass composite posts under all-ceramic crowns in endodontically treated premolars

        PURPOSE. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the fracture resistances of zirconia, cast nickel-chromium alloy (Ni-Cr), and fiber-composite post systems under all-ceramic crowns in endodontically treated mandibular first premolars. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 36 extracted human mandibular premolars were selected, subjected to standard endodontic treatment, and divided into three groups (n=12) as follows: cast Ni-Cr post-and-core, one-piece custom-milled zirconia post-and-core, and prefabricated fiber-glass post with composite resin core. Each specimen had an all-ceramic crown with zirconia coping and was then loaded to failure using a universal testing machine at a cross-head speed of 0.5 mm/min, at an angle of 45 degrees to the long axis of the roots. Fracture resistance and modes of failure were analyzed. The significance of the results was assessed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey honest significance difference (HSD) tests (α=.05). RESULTS. Fiber-glass posts with composite cores showed the highest fracture resistance values (915.70±323 N), and the zirconia post system showed the lowest resistance (435.34±220 N). The corresponding mean value for the Ni-Cr casting post and cores was reported as 780.59±270 N. The differences among the groups were statistically significant (P<.05) for the zirconia group, as tested by ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests. CONCLUSION. The fracture resistance of zirconia post-and-core systems was found to be significantly lower than those of fiberglass and cast Ni-Cr post systems. Moreover, catastrophic and non-restorable fractures were more prevalent in teeth restored by zirconia posts.

        Rheological properties of Mg based feedstocks with micro or nano Al2O3 powder for injection molding

        In powder injection molding process, the rheological properties of feedstocks significantly influences the steady flow and the uniform filling into the mold. In this study, we investigated the effect of micro and nano size particles of Al2O3 on the rheological properties of Mg-Al2O3 feedstocks. A binder system containing Paraffin wax, Bees wax, and Stearic acid was synthesized. This binder was mixed with pure Mg and Al2O3 powders in various proportions. The Al2O3 powders contained both nano- and micro-Al2O3 differing in concentration from one sample to another. Flow characteristics of the samples were then investigated under different circumstances of shear rate and temperature by means of a rotary rheometer. Viscosity of the feedstocks was found to be decreased with micro size Al2O3 content whereas increased via nano size Al2O3.

        Impact of Barium in Improving Corrosion Resistance and Properties of Electroless Ni–Ba–B Alloy Deposits

        Electroless Ni–B deposits have found many applications because of their unique properties. To enhance the performance ofNi–B deposit, one can add a third element and accordingly Ni–Ba–B ternary alloy synthesized and characterized for the firsttime. The alloy deposits of Ni–Ba–B on steel substrate are characterized for their chemical composition, microstructures,morphology, and micro-hardness by means of different instrumental techniques. Microstructural examination by FE-SEMindicated that the grains of coatings are in the form of nodule with different microstructures. The XRD experiments confirmedthe simultaneous presence of amorphous and microcrystalline phases in the Ni–Ba–B deposits. Compared to Ni–B deposits,the micro-hardness and corrosion resistance of the ternary deposits are also improved.

      • Mast Cell Concentrations in Peripheral and Central Giant Cell Granulomas: Is there any Angiogenetic Role?

        Background: In the maxillofacial region, giant cell granulomas occur in 2 clinical forms, central and peripheral. Despite histopathological similarity between these 2 forms totally different clinical behaviors have been reported. The present study was undertaken to compare mast cell and vascular concentrations in these pathologic lesions. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, 20 pathological samples of central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) and 20 samples of peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG) were selected and examined through toluidine blue staining for mast cell assessment and immunohistochemical staining by VEGEF antibody for comparing the number of mast cells. T-test, chi-squared test and backward multivariate linear regression were used for statistical analysis using SPSS 20. Statistical significance was set at P<0.05. Results: This study showed significantly greater VEGF expression and mast cell concentrations in CGCG compared to PGCG cases. Also there was a significant correlation between VEGF expression and the concentration of mast cells. No relation was found between age, sex and site of the lesion and concentration of mast cells or VEGF expression. Conclusions: It is feasible that higher concentrations of mast cells in CGCG versus PGCG samples might lead to more aggressive clinical behavior via vascular proliferation and angiogenesis. However, other biologic mechanisms should be considered in this situation.

      • Sexual Dysfunction in Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in Malaysia

        Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a combination of chronic anovulation, obesity, and hyperandrogenism and can affect sexual function in women of reproductive age. It is also associated with endometrial cancer. Our aim was to evaluate the frequency and predisposing factors of sexual dysfunction in PCOS patients. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 16 married women with a definite diagnosis of PCOS were recruited. Sexual function was assessed in the domains of desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction and pain using the female sexual function index (FSFI) questionnaire. Patients were also assessed for mental health using the depression, anxiety and stress (DASS-21) questionnaire. Presence of hirsutism was assessed using the Ferriman-Gallwey (FG) scoring system. Demographic data were obtained from patients during in-person interview. Results: Sexual dysfunction was present in 62.5% of patients with the domains of arousal and lubrication particularly affected (93.8% and 87.5%, respectively). Patients with symptoms of depression and anxiety were significantly more likely to suffer sexual dysfunction than those without these symptoms (p=0.04 and p=0.03 respectively). Patients with stress symptoms reported higher orgasm dysfunction than those without (p=0.02). No significant difference in any of the FSFI score domains was observed between patients with and without hirsutism. Conclusions: PCOS patients markedly suffer from sexual dysfunction and therefore it seems appropriate to be screened for intervention. Poor mental health conditions that may be the result of infertility or other complications of PCOS should also be considered as curable causes of sexual dysfunction in these patients.

        Semi-field demographic performance of the invasive planthopper, Orosanga japonica (Hemiptera: Ricaniidae) on two host plants

        Orosanga japonica Melichar (Hemiptera: Ricaniidae) is an invasive polyphagous pest in Iran. The planthopper damaged host plants by sap-sucking and egg laying on new twigs. This study aimed to determine the life table parameters of O. japonica on Rubus ulmifolius Schoot (elm leaf blackberry) and Melia azedarach L. (chinaberry) under field conditions in Rudsar (North of Iran) during 2019–2020. The collected life history data were analyzed based on age-stage, two-sex life table theory. The results showed that the incubation period of O. japonica was too long (≈ 270 days) on both host plants. The nymphs emerged from mid-May 2020. The planthopper had five nymphal stages under field conditions. The nymphal duration was 41.39 ± 0.56 days and 38.13 ± 0.62 days on R. ulmifolius and M. azedarach, respectively. The total preadult survival rates were 53.2% and 51.7% on R. ulmifolius and M. azedarach, respectively. Based on the results, a significant shorter total developmental time was observed on M. azedarach. When adults emerged in late July, they laid eggs after 26.05 days and 26.75 days on R. ulmifolius and M. azedarach, respectively. The fecundity on M. azedarach (131.69 egg/female) was significantly higher than that on R. ulmifolius. However, the life table parameters were all not significantly different on the two host plants. The intrinsic rate of increase (r) were 0.0097 ± 0.0005 day − 1 and 0.0105 ± 0.0006 day − 1 on R. ulmifolius and M. azedarach, respectively. Generally, these findings could be helpful to establish an efficient management strategy for this exotic pest.

        Experimental investigation of CO2 capture using sodium hydroxide particles in a fluidized bed

        CO2 capture from air using sodium hydroxide solid sorbent in a laboratory scale fluidized bed reactor was investigated experimentally. The influence of three parameters of temperature, inlet CO2 volume percentage and inlet air flow rate on the CO2 removal rate was studied. Experimental results showed that the optimum rate was at 25 oC when the inlet CO2 volume percentage was 1%. The results also showed that the adsorption process was reactive, and the reaction mechanism depended on the reaction temperature. In addition, empirical observation revealed only one adsorption cycle happened at low temperatures (25-30 oC). As the temperature increased, the second adsorption cycle occurred and, finally, CO2 desorption cycle took place in the range of 90-115 oC.

        Association of Amplitude and Stability of Circadian Rhythm, Sleep Quality, and Occupational Stress with Sickness Absence among a Gas Company Employeesd-A Cross Sectional Study from Iran

        Background: The present study was carried out to assess the relationship between sickness absence and occupational stress, sleep quality, and amplitude and stability of circadian rhythm as well as to determine contributing factors of sickness absence. Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted on 400 randomly selected employees of an Iranian gas company. The data were collected using Pittsburgh sleep quality index, Karolinska sleepiness scale, circadian type inventory, and Osipow occupational stress questionnaires. Results: The mean age and job tenure of the participants were 33.18 5.64 years and 6.06 4.99 years, respectively. Also, the participants had been absent from work on average 2.16 days a year. According to the results, 209 participants had no absences, 129 participants had short-term absences, and 62 participants had long-term absences. The results showed a significant relationship between short-term absenteeism and amplitude of circadian rhythm [odds ratio (OR)¼ 6.13], sleep quality (OR ¼ 14.46), sleepiness (OR ¼ 2.08), role boundary (OR ¼ 6.45), and responsibility (OR ¼ 5.23). Long-term absenteeism was also significantly associated with amplitude of circadian rhythm (OR ¼ 2.42), sleep quality (OR ¼ 21.56), sleepiness (OR ¼ 6.44), role overload (OR ¼ 4.84), role boundary (OR ¼ 4.27), and responsibility (OR¼ 3.72). Conclusion: The results revealed that poor sleep quality, amplitude of circadian rhythm, and occupational stress were the contributing factors for sickness absence in the study population.
