An AVLB (Armored Vehicles Launched Bridge) is known as one of the strategic munitions used by the Korean Army Corps of Engineers. An AVLB is a military vehicle that act as a temporary bridge in which five large hydraulic cylinders are simultaneously operated. In order to stably operate the hydraulic cylinder, a reservoir containing hydraulic fluid with stable performance is required. Currently, supply of such reservoirs relies on entirely imports from foreign countries, however its localization development has not been achieved yet. In this study, the initial model of the reservoir is reversely designed, and then structural stability is analyzed. Through structural analysis using ANSYS for the initial model, the stress concentration in the reservoir is analyzed and compared with the previously known damaged parts of the actual reservoir. To reduce the stress concentration, a series of simulations are carried out for a set of parameters, which are to be empirically determined within a practical design range. Finally, the parameters guaranteeing a stable structure are found from the simulation, and are reflected to the modified design of the product.
