Novel Bipolar Soft Rough-Set Approximations and Their Application in Solving Decision-Making Problems

Rizwan Gul 한국지능시스템학회 2022 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL of FUZZY LOGIC and INTELLIGE Vol.22 No.3

The rough set (RS) theory is a successful approach for studying the uncertainty in data. Incontrast, the bipolar soft sets (BSS) can deal with the uncertainty, as well as bipolarity ofthe data in many situations. In 2018, Karaaslan and C¸ agman proposed bipolar soft rough ˘sets (BSRSs), a hybridization of RS and BSS. However, certain shortcomings with BSRSviolate Pawlak’s RS theory. To overcome these shortcomings, the concept of the modifiedbipolar soft rough set (MBSRS) has been proposed in this study. Moreover, this idea hasbeen investigated through illustrative examples, where the important properties are inspecteddeeply. Furthermore, certain significant measures associated with MBSRS are also provided. Finally, an application of the MBSRS to multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM)problems is proposed. In addition, among various alternatives, an algorithm for decisionmaking accompanied by a practical example is presented as the optimal alternative . A briefcomparative analysis of the proposed approach with some existing techniques is also providedto indicate the validity, flexibility, and superiority of the suggested MAGDM model.

Effect of extraction methods on structural, physiochemical and functional properties of dietary fiber from defatted walnut flour

        Gul Mali Khan,Nasir Mehmood Khan,Zia Ullah Khan,Farman Ali,Abdul Khaliq Jan,Nawshad Muhammad,Rizwan Elahi 한국식품과학회 2018 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.27 No.4

The effect of different extraction methods i.e. extraction with alkali (AEDF), enzyme (EEDF) and enzyme plus shear emulsifying hydrolysis (SEDF) on structure, physiochemical as well as the functional characteristics of dietary fiber (DF) from defatted walnut flour were studied. AEDF process showed significantly higher (P\0.05) amount of water retention capacity (WRC; 5.39 g/g), water swelling capacity (WSC; 3.16 g/mL), and particle size; while, shown lower value of oil adsorption capacity (OAC; 29 g/g) amongst all. Compared to AEDF, no major differences were observed in network except the matrix in EEDF and SEDF was more porous and honey comb like. DF extracted through AEDF, EEDF and SEDF showed good viscosity and emulsifying activity however, less stability indices. The results from this study suggest that AEDF and EEDF and SEDF had specific effects on the structure-functional properties of DF from defatted walnut flour, which has great potential in food applications.

      • Incidence of Active HCV infection amongst Blood Donors of Mardan District, Pakistan

        Karim, Fawad,Nasar, Abu,Alam, Ibrar,Alam, Iftikhar,Hassan, Said,Gul, Rahmat,Ullah, Sana,Rizwan, Muhammad Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.1

Hepatitis C is an ailment of liver caused by hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. About 3% of the world population is infected by this virus. HCV infection is a leading reason for liver cirrhosis and therefore a major source of hepatocellular carcinoma. The study focused on the incidence of active HCV infection in blood donors of Mardan district of KPK, Pakistan. A total of 5318 blood donors were inspected for the presence of anti-HCV antibodies and HCV-RNA using ICT (immune-chromatographic test), ELISA and RT-PCR at Mardan Medical Complex (MMC), Mardan. Out of these, 157 (2.95%) were positive by ICT, 60 (1.12%) by ELISA and 56 (1.05%) for HCV-RNA. The frequency of active HCV infectivity amongst the blood donors from district Mardan, KPK Pakistan was 1.05 %. Application of strict measures during blood donor selection and use of proper screening assays such as ELISA in place of ICT devices can give a more accurate picture so that the incidence of this viral infection in HCV negative blood recipients can be reduced.
