ACCURACY OF THE IMPRESSION TECHNIQUE USING THERMOFORMING POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE TRAY

        Miyashita, Yuko,Suzuki, Hiroki,Kishi, Masataka,Ko, Sok-Min The Korean Academy of Prosthodonitics 2007 대한치과보철학회지 Vol.45 No.3

Statement of problem. Use of the conventional dental impression procedure is problematic in patients who have difficulty opening their mouth, difficulty breathing through their nose or tendency to gag. Purpose. It is necessary to make individual trays more comfortable for patients during impression taking procedure. It was reported at the KAP Annual Meeting 2001 Seoul that an improved impression technique was suitable for this purpose. In this study, the accuracy of the improved dental impression method for implant was compared with the conventional dental impression method. Material and methods. An oral simulator was made from clear acrylic resin block which had similar form of edentulous ridge. For setting up the standard, five fixtures were installed on it. Study casts were made using two kinds of impression techniques. One was the conventional method that was taken using silicone impression material and an individual resin tray under connection of inter-fixture relation. The other was the improved method in which was the connection of the impression coping and the thermoformed polymethyl methacrylate tray. In addition, two different study casts were made from the improved impression body. The coordinates of the fixture on the study model were measured by three-dimensional coordinate measuring equipment. Then the distances between each fixture were calculated and compared with that of oral simulator. Accuracy of the each impression method was also assessed. Results. The differences of inter-fixture dimension between study casts and simulator in the improved impression technique showed $0.014{\pm}0.016mm$ and $0.017{\pm}0.022mm$, respectively and that of the conventional method was $0.017{\pm}0.014mm$. There was no significant difference between the improved impression technique and conventional method. Conclusion. The improved impression technique is useful for multiple support implants.

An Update on Accumulating Exercise and Postprandial Lipaemia: Translating Theory Into Practice

Miyashita, Masashi,Burns, Stephen F.,Stensel, David J. The Korean Society for Preventive Medicine 2013 Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health Vol.46 No.suppl

Over the last two decades, significant research attention has been given to the acute effect of a single bout of exercise on postprandial lipaemia. A large body of evidence supports the notion that an acute bout of aerobic exercise can reduce postprandial triacylglycerol (TAG) concentrations. However, this effect is short-lived emphasising the important role of regular physical activity for lowering TAG concentrations through an active lifestyle. In 1995, the concept of accumulating physical activity was introduced in expert recommendations with the advice that activity can be performed in several short bouts throughout the day with a minimum duration of 10 minutes per activity bout. Although the concept of accumulation has been widely publicised, there is still limited scientific evidence to support it but several studies have investigated the effects of accumulated activity on health-related outcomes to support the recommendations in physical activity guidelines. One area, which is the focus of this review, is the effect of accumulating exercise on postprandial lipaemia. We propose that accumulating exercise will provide additional physical activity options for lowering postprandial TAG concentrations relevant to individuals with limited time or exercise capacity to engage in more structured forms of exercise, or longer bouts of physical activity. The benefits of accumulated physical activity might translate to a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease in the long-term.

      • Pyridoxal Model as a Synthetic Tool for Unnatural Amino Acids;Catalytic β-Replacem

Miyashita, Kazuyuki 전남대학교 약품개발연구소 1999 약품개발연구지 Vol.8 No.1

Unnatural amino acids have been gathering a considerable attention from the viewpoints of biological and medicinal chemistry and extensive synthetic studies have been conducted. As a pyridoxal-pyridoxamine system is closely involved in various biosynthetic and metabolic reactions of amino acids in a biological system, we focused on this system as a novel utility for the synthesis of unnatural amino acids in an artificial system, and designed the model compounds 1 having an ionophore function at C-3. We have already found a characteristic ionophoric feature of 1 and described its application to asymmetric α-alkylation of a-amino esters by using the compounds 1 having a chiral ionophore side-chain at C-3. This method is effective for the asymmetric synthesis of α,α-dialkyl amino esters. As one of the reactions mediated by pyridoxal in a biological system, β-replacement reaction of serine hydroxyl group, as represented by tryptophan synthase (R¹=R²= H, :Nu=tryptophan), is well-known and is thought to be useful for the synthesis of various unnatural amino acids modified at the β-position. However only a few examples mimicking this reaction have been reported and the application to the synthesis of other amino acids than tryptophan derivatives has not been reported. We were interested in this reaction as a novel method for the synthesis of unnatural amino acids and designed the novel model compounds 2 based on the compound 1. Our design concepts are as follows: 1) introduction of a base function at C-5 to assist the nucleophilic replacement reaction; 2) introduction of an additional metal-chelation side-chain at C-2 to activate the pyridine ring as an electron-withdrawing function. Eventually it was found that the model compounds 2 having a heterobimetal chelation ability can catalytically replace the hydroxy function by a carbon nucleophile in the presence of Li^+ and Zn^(2+), as shown below. The detail of this β-replacement reaction catalyzed by our model compounds 2 will be presented. [그림]

      • Study on Acoustical Estimation of Distribution and Abundance of Isada Krill , Euphausia pacifica Hansen , off the Sanriku and off the Jhoban , Northern Japan

        Miyashita, Kazushi,Aoki, Ichiro,Asami, Tadashi,Mori, Hideki,Taki, Kenji 한국수산자원학회 1998 한국수산자원학회지 Vol.1 No.1

In this study, we examined acoustical estimation of distribution and abundance of isada krill, Euphausia pacifica Hansen, using two-frequency algorithm with the theoretical scattering model. In April 1997, the acoustic survey and midwater trawl survey was conducted in the daytime off the Sanriku and Jhoban coasts, northeastern, Japan. The acoustic data, collected with a two-frequency quantitative echo sounder system (38㎑ and 120㎑), were used for analysis. In this survey area, midwater trawling showed that isada krill and juvenile walleye pollock, Theragra chalcogramma, were the major components. There were two patterns of frequency characteristics in back-scattering strengths (SV) at each frequency : one was the case when the SV dit'erence (SV120-SV38) between two frequencies was relatively large (10dB$lt;△SV$lt;15dB), and the other was relatively small(△SV$lt;2dB). The former was isada krill and the latter was walleye pollock. The biomass density of isada krill was very high in the area off the Sanriku coast, and relatively low in the area off the Jhoban coast.

Structural Change in the International Advanced Logistics

Kunio MIYASHITA 한국해운물류학회 2009 The Asian journal of shipping and Logistics Vol.25 No.1

This paper focuses on the international advanced logistics perspective in the global economy. The early 1980s could be referred to as the turning point for the world shipping industry as the first generation. Since then world physical distribution, especially world shipping of the second generation has suffered from the effect of deregulation, IT revolution and globalization on the transactions of multinational enterprises. Such structural change has been supported by the sustainable development of Asian economy. The hypothesis that the product cycle theory and the flying geese model will explain effectively the economic development and the catch up behavior of Asian countries is demonstrated by the statistical analysis on the dynamic physical flow especially from Asia to US. In 1990s international container shipping has begun to combine with the international air cargo transportation industry, so that their relationship has converted from complementary to competitive condition. Based on the econometric analysis of modal choice, it is demonstrated that the long term time costs elasticity of modal choice has been strengthened since 1995. Those structural changes in container shipping have been generating the various attractive trades by air in international logistics industry. Although the global economic crisis in 2008 has distorted the logistics development trend, it is the strategic competition in the international logistics industry that will serve to rebuild the new business model of post-economic crisis.

      • Shamanism Crossing Boundaries A Case Study of First-Generation Korean Women Living in Japan

( Ryoko Miyashita ) 서울시립대학교 도시인문학연구소 2010 Studies in Urban Humanities Vol.1 No.-

The example of K, practice of the folk custom, multicultural situation of the folk of Koreans living in Japan where food, clothing, and shelter of everyday life mixes, and creates together something that surpasses the ethnic identity. In other words, words, ceremonies, and the techniques used for ceremonies are Korean context, but spirits of the dead, Snake Gods, ancestors, Well Gods, and evil spirits as a religious service subject are Japanese context, and as this case as an example creating a new shamanism as they both mix. The ideal method of a sound articulation of the human world that directed behaviors and lives of the people before the modem nation states, formation depended on the imagination of the collaboration of a flexible inside with individuals in the center (us nature) such as like the relative master servant relationship or other networks, and the otherness (they nature). However, in many situations of life now, behavior is directed by imaging various flexible us and they. Only with a concept of people related deeply to nation states, and culture the combination as such as this example can be over looked. This example points out the consideration that the human life by the objectification of these premises restricting the viewpoint, and the point of view where dynamic otherness and collaboration forms.
