        EVALUATION AND MEASUREMENT THE RECOVERED ENERGY FROM AUTOMOBILE SUSPENSION IN THE OPERATION CONDITIONS

        The purpose of this paper is to verify if it is possible to recover the energy from automobile suspensions, using a system who replace the shock absorber. The system consists of an electric generator, a mechanical system for transforming the translation of body car in rotational movement and an electronic control system. The tests were made on three road types, according to ISO 8608/1995 with four different driving speeds. The results showed that a significant quantity of energy was recovered during the test on inferior type of road, even at reduced speed. For the superior type of the road, the energy can be recovered only at high speed. The parameters that influences the system capacity of recovering energy are gross weight of the vehicle, road type and the vehicle speed.

        Pseudoaneurysm of the splenic artery

        Delayed post-pancreatectomy hemorrhage (PPH) is a relatively uncommon, but feared, complication after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). A splenic artery pseudoaneurysm is a rare cause of delayed PPH after a PD. This paper describes the case of a patient with PD used to treat a distal bile duct cholangiocarcinoma complicated with a clinically significant pancreatic fistula and secondary intraabdominal abscess. Computed tomography-guided drainage of the abscess was performed with an apparently favourable outcome; the patient was discharged on postoperative day (POD) 35 and the abdominal drains were removed on POD 50. On POD 80, the patient was readmitted for a severe digestive hemorrhage. Computed tomography revealed a pseudoaneurysm of the splenic artery with a subsequent hematoma formation. Immediately, an angiography was performed and coils were successfully mounted. This case illustrates the rare possibility of the development of a splenic artery pseudoaneurysm with severe delayed PPH after PD complicated with a clinically significant pancreatic fistula, even after the patient was discharged from the hospital. An interventional radiology approach represents the first treatment option in hemodynamically stable patients with high success rates.

        Multifractal Characterization of Water Soluble Copper Phthalocyanine Based Films Surfaces

        This paper presents a multifractal approach to characterize the structural complexity of 3D surface roughness of CuTsPc films on the glass and quartz substrate, obtained with atomic force microscopy (AFM) analysis. CuTsPc films prepared by drop cast method were investigated. CuTsPc films surface roughness was studied by AFM in tapping-mode™, in an aqueous environment, on square areas of 100 μm2 and 2500 μm2. A detailed methodology for CuTsPc films surface multifractal characterization, which may be applied for AFM data, was also presented. Analysis of surface roughness revealed that CuTsPc films have a multifractal geometry at various magnifications. The generalized dimension Dq and the singularity spectrum f(α) provided quantitative values that characterize the local scale properties of CuTsPc films surface morphology at nanometer scale. Multifractal analysis provides different yet complementary information to that offered by traditional surface statistical parameters.
