This paper presents a novel prototype of active voltage-clamping capacitor-assisted edge resonant soft switching PWM inverter operating at a constant frequency variable power (VPCF) regulation scheme, which is suitable for consumer high-power induction-heating cooking appliances. New generation IGBT with a trench gate is particularly improved in order to reduce conduction loss due to its lowered saturation voltage characteristics. The soft switching load resonant and quasi-resonant inverter designed distinctively using the latest IGBTs is evaluated from an experimental point of view.<br/> Index Terms: Active voltage-clamped capacitor, edge-resonant VPCF inverter, constant frequency variable power regulation, 4th generation IGBT, zero voltage switching operation, active power filter function.

This paper describes an advanced prototype of voltage-fed zero voltage soft-switching PWM resonant inverter with an active voltage clamped capacitor, which is put into practice for high-frequency high-power induction-heated appliances This application-specific quasi-resonant inverter using the latest generation IGBTs for soft-switching can regulate its output power under a principle of a fixed frequency ZVS-PWM strategy. Its operating principle and unique features are presented as compared with a conventional quasi-resonant ZVS inverter for induction-heated cooker, together with its power regulation characteristics on the basis of its simulation and experimental results. The steady-state performances of this inverter developed for mutli-bumer type induction-heated food cooking appliance are evaluated and discussed from a practical point of view.<br/>

This paper presents a simple and cost effective circuit topology of single-ended type high frequency quasi-resonant PWM inverter using IGBTs, which can operate under wide soft switching operation range based on ZCS for main power switch as compared with a conventional active voltage-clamped ZVS-PWM high frequency quasi-resonant inverter developed previously In principle, this new circuit topology can efficiently operate under a constant frequency PWM control-based power regulation scheme In particular, it is noted that the zero current soft switching (ZCS) commutation can achieve for the main active power switch On the other hand, the zero voltage soft switching (ZVS) commutation can also achieve for the auxiliary active power switch The operating principle of this high-frequency Inverter treated here and its power regulation characteristics are illustrated on the basis of the simulation and feasible experimental results.

Purpose: Asthma is a chronic respiratory disorder that leads to inflammation and narrowing of the airways. Its global prevalence has attained epidemiclevels and treatment options that reach beyond temporary relief of symptoms are urgently needed. Since the processes leading to clinicallysymptomatic asthma start early in life, we set out to systematically evaluate a neonatal immunotherapeutic based on Listeria monocytogenes (Lm)for the control of allergic sensitization. Methods: We modified Lm to express the model allergen, ovalbumin (OVA), and tested the ability of neonatalimmunization with this strain to control allergic sensitization in a mouse model of OVA-induced asthma. Mice were immunized as newborns withlive or heat killed LmOVA or live Lm, followed 6 weeks later by allergic sensitization with OVA. In order to determine whether the TH1-polarizing effectof this vaccine vector inadvertently may exacerbate development of certain TH1-driven allergic diseases, mice immunized as newborns were assessedin a model of adult hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP). Results: Both LmOVA and Lm-control vaccines were highly effective in providinglong-lasting protection from airway inflammation after only one immunization given perinatally. Serum antibody levels and lung cytokine productionsuggest that this prophylactic strategy is associated with an allergen specific TH1-dominated response. Specifically, LmOVA vaccinated mice displayedsignificantly elevated OVA-specific serum IgG2a, but no difference in anti-OVA IgE antibodies and only slightly decreased anti-OVA IgG1 antibodies. Importantly, Lm-based neonatal vaccination did not exacerbate Th1/Th17 driven HP, arguing against broad spectrum immune skewing. Conclusions:Our findings highlight the promise of early life Lm-based immunomodulatory interventions as a prophylactic strategy for allergic asthma.
