      • Power Sharing Strategy of A Series-parallel-connected EV Charger

        In order to meet different requirements of rechargeable batteries in Electric vehicles, a charger with hybrid structure, which designed as module and combined in series and parallel, was proposed in this paper. Each individual module uses ZCS phase-shifted full-bridge converters. And in order to ensure power sharing of each module, the outer loop power control strategy based on average current sharing method has been adopted. A combination prototype was built following the proposed strategy. Experimental results verify the correctness of the proposed scheme and the performance of power sharing system can meet the charging application.

        The use of LCL filters in pulse width modulation voltage source converters is a standard solution for providing proper attenuation of high-order grid-current harmonics. However, these filters can cause the undesired effect of resonance. This paper proposes an active damping strategy with harmonics compensation. It can alleviate the harmonics around the resonance frequency caused by the LCL filters. The proposed strategy is attractive since it is simple, does not depend on grid parameters and does not increase the number of sensors. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed active damping strategy.

        Investigation of melting dynamics of filler wire during wire feed laser welding

        In order to investigate the mechanism of stability for the wire feed laser welding process, systematic experiments are carried out in this study for 5A06 aluminum alloy. By using high speed camera, the melting dynamics of filler wires with different feed positions and feed rates are studied. The results indicate that these two factors mainly influence the characteristics of the filler wire melting dynamics and determine the stability of the welding process. The melting dynamics of filler wire can be generally characterized by three different forms: explosion, big droplet and molten metal bridge. When the filler wire melts and transits to the molten pool in the forms of explosion or big droplet, the stability of the welding process is strongly disturbed, resulting in an undesirable weld quality. In contrast, when it is in molten metal bridge form, the welding process is more stable and a uniform weld bead is achieved.

        A Mechanism for Configurable Network Service Chaining and Its Implementation

        Recently Service Function Chaining (SFC) is promising to innovate the network service mode in modern networks. However, a feasible implementation of SFC is still difficult due to the need to achieve functional equivalence with traditional modes without sacrificing performance or increasing network complexity. In this paper, we present a configurable network service chaining (CNSC) mechanism to provide services for network traffics in a flexible and optimal way. Firstly, we formulate the problem of network service chaining and design an effective service chain construction framework based on integrating software-defined networking (SDN) with network functions virtualization (NFV). Then, we model the service path computation problem as an integer liner optimization problem and propose an algorithm named SPCM to cooperatively combine service function instances with a network utility maximum policy. In the procedure of SPCM, we achieve the service node mapping by defining a service capacity matrix for substrate nodes, and work out the optimal link mapping policies with segment routing. Finally, the simulation results indicate that the average request acceptance ratio and resources utilization ratio can reach above 85% and 75% by our SPCM algorithm, respectively. Upon the prototype system, it is demonstrated that CNSC outperforms other approaches and can provide flexible and scalable network services.

        Transgenic Rice Plants Overexpressing BBTI4 Confer Partial but Broad-spectrum Bacterial Blight Resistance

        Plant Bowman-Birk type bran trypsin inhibitors(BBTI) belong to a family of serine protease inhibitors thatinhibit trypsin activity and play roles in plant developmentand defense responses to both biotic and abiotic stresses. Inthis study, transgenic rice plants overexpressing BBTI4 (OXBBTI4)were generated. Reverse-transcription polymerasechain reaction and western blot (WB) analysis demonstratedthat the BBTI4 mRNA and protein levels were significantlyincreased in OX-BBTI4. Notably, two BBTI4 protein formswith different molecular weight (18 kD and 28 kD) wererevealed by WB analysis. In non-transgenic plants, BBTI4-28kD and BBTI4-18kD were mainly expressed in roots andleaves, respectively, while in transgenic OX-BBTI4 plants,both protein forms were expressed constitutively. Subcellularanalysis revealed that BBTI4 is localized in the cytosol. Moreover, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) inoculationexperiments demonstrated that transgenic OX-BBTI4 riceplants conferred partial but broad-spectrum Xoo resistance. InOX-BBTI4 transgenic rice plants, the expression of OsPR3 andOsPR10a proteins was induced and gradually increased afterXoo infection, while the expression of OsPR1a, OsPR1b andOsPR-pha remained unchanged. Taken together, these resultssuggest that BBTI4 may play a role in rice resistance to Xoo,and OsPR3 and OsPR10a may be involved in the OX-BBTI4-dependent partial Xoo resistance response.
