Analytical method which combines electronictongue technique and chemometrics analysis is developedto discriminate oil types and predict oil quality. All thestudied Camellia oil samples from pressing, n-hexaneextraction and supercritical CO2 extraction (SCCE), weresuccessfully identified by principal component analysis(PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA). Furthermore,multi factor linear regression model (MLRM) wasestablished to predict oil quality, which are indicated byacid value (AV) and peroxide value (POV). The practicalpotential of e-tongue for the discrimination and assessmentof Camellia oils has shown promising application in thecharacterization of Camellia oils in the oil qualityevaluation.
漢語“紅”與英語“red”的文化內涵比較研究 —基於詞典釋義的語義對比分析

The color words "red" in English and "紅" in Chinese are frequently used in their respective languages. This paper gathers entries from authoritative dictionaries, namely "漢語大詞典" (Comprehensive Chinese Dictionary) and "現代英漢詞典" (Modern English-Chinese Dictionary), to delve into the cultural differences inherent in color terms. Utilizing qualitative, quantitative, and comparative analysis methods, this study compares the commendatory and derogatory ratios, semantic categories, and corresponding patterns of "紅" and "red" in their cultural semantics, drawing conclusions on their similarities and differences. These variances ultimately trace back to and reflect the distinct cultural values, aesthetics, and psychology between the two cultures. In teaching and academic research, the instruction, study, and translation of culture-laden terms have become an imperative issue in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. This is because the color terms in both English and Chinese languages encompass rich cultural significances. Teaching these terms aids students in grasping the conceptual and particularly the cultural meanings they represent, eradicating interference from students' native languages and cultures, and bolstering intercultural communication awareness and capabilities. This bears practical significance for lexicology and intercultural communication.

Aim: This study was to evaluate the effect of whole brain radiation (WBRT) combined with stereotactic radiotherapy (SRS) versus stereotactic radiotherapy alone for patients with brain metastases using a meta-analysis. Materials and Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library from their inception up to October 2013. Randomized controlled trials involving whole brain radiation combined with stereotactic radiotherapy versus stereotactic radiotherapy alone for brain metastases were included. Statistical analyses were performed using RevMan5.2 software. Results: Four randomized controlled trials including 903 patients were included. The meta-analysis showed statistically significant lowering of the local recurrence rate (OR=0.29, 95%CI: 0.17~0.49), new brain metastasis rate (OR=0.45, 95%CI: 0.28~0.71) and symptomatic late neurologic radiation toxicity rate (OR=3.92, 95%CI: 1.37~11.20) in the combined group. No statistically significant difference existed in the 1-year survival rate (OR=0.78, 95%CI: 0.60~1.03). Conclusions: The results indicate that whole brain radiotherapy combined with stereotactic radiotherapy has advantages in local recurrence and new brain metastasis rates, but stereotactic radiotherapy alone is associated with better neurological function. However, as the samples included were not large, more high-quality, large-sample size studies are necessary for confirmation.

The innate immune system coordinates the inflammatory response to pathogens. To do so, its cells must discriminate self from non-self utilizing receptors that identify molecules synthesized exclusively by microbes. Toll-like receptors have a crucial role in the detection of microbial infection in mammals and insects. In mammals, they have evolved to recognize conserved products unique to microbial metabolism. These include lipopolysaccharide (LPS), lipotechoic acids, and peptidoglycans (PGN). We show here that TLRs, including TLR2, are expressed on the THP-1 human leukemia cell line. Activation of TLR2 signaling in THP-1 by PGN induces the synthesis of various soluble factors and proteins including interleukin-$1{\beta}$, interleukin-8 and TNF-${\alpha}$ and apoptosis of THP-1 with PGN dose and time dependence. Moreover, in this study we show that PGN induces apoptosis of THP-1 cells in a TNF-${\alpha}$-dependent manner. These findings indicate that TLR2 signaling results in a cascade leading to tumor apoptosis and differentiation, which may suggest new clinical prospects using TLR2 agonists as cytotoxic agents in certain cancers.

<P>Atmospheric pressure (AP) oxygen cold plasma was adopted to synthesize Au/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> catalysts with the assistance of a simple modified incipient wetness impregnation process. Discharge voltages of 25.0, 29.0, and 35.0 kV and discharge time of 1, 2, and 4 min are selected to investigate the effects of discharge voltage and discharge time on the property of the Au/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> catalysts. The results of carbon monoxide (CO) oxidation activity testing show that AP oxygen cold plasma is beneficial to enhance the activity of the Au/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> catalysts, and the optimal discharge voltage and time are 29.0 kV and 1 min, respectively. CO conversion of the Au/TiO<SUB>2</SUB>-29-1 catalyst at 30 °C is 1.42 times as that of the Au/TiO<SUB>2</SUB>-As catalyst without plasma treatment. The UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy characterizations indicate that AP oxygen cold plasma not only can decompose the gold species formed by the modified impregnation process to form metallic gold species but also can remove some of the oxygen species on the surface of the TiO<SUB>2</SUB> support. The discharge time of 1 min at 29.0 kV is enough to decompose the gold species formed by the modified impregnation process, and to keep much active hydroxyl groups. Moreover, there is little difference in the size of gold nanoparticles in the Au/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> catalysts. Therefore, Au/TiO<SUB>2</SUB>-29-1 catalyst exhibits higher CO oxidation activity than Au/TiO<SUB>2</SUB>-As, and 1 min is the optimal discharge time. Thanks to the AP oxygen cold plasma method, high-performance Au/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> catalysts can be synthesized simply in a short time.</P>
