      • JMAAB Plant Modeling Guidelines and Vehicle Architecture

        Plant Modeling Working Group (PM-WG) of Japan MATLAB® Automotive Advisory Board (JMAAB) developed “lant Modeling Guidelines using MATLAB®”with the collaboration of automotive companies and released the guidelines accompanied by a sample vehicle model in 2008. They recommend the vehicle model architecture and how to draw vehicle models with the good portability and readability. PM-WG has introduced a new capability called Two-Way-Connection (TWC) into SIMULINK® which allows us to draw models with the intuitive physical image assembling parts. The sample model was constructed based on TWC. The guidelines intend to be referenced in other plant modeling tools because TWC can be a bridge between a tool based on causal modeling (signal flow or data flow mechanism) and another tool based on recent acausal modeling with connection mechanism.

        Prepontine Chordoma without Bone Involvement : Case Report 증례보고

        뇌교에 유착된 매우 드문 경막내 척색종 1례를 보고한다. 5년간의 추적기간 동안 광범위 종양절제에도 불구하고 두차례 재발했으며, 마지막으로 재발된 종양은 gamma knife로 치료되었다. 방사선 치료 1년후 검사한 핵자기공명 촬영상 뇌교부 종양은 감소된 반면, 천막열공 상부로 새로운 경막내 척색종이 보였다. 골밀도 뇌전산화단층 촬영상 두개골침범의 소견은 보이지 않았다. 두개골침범없는 경막내 척색종이 비교적 양성의 성격을띄운다 하더라도, 본증례의 재발양상은 뇌교와의 유착 및 종야의 뇌세포 침윤으로 인해, 두개골을 침범하는 고전적 척색종과 같은 aggressiveness를 보였다. 종양의 장기간 재발방지를 위한 보조적치료로 방사선치료가 요망된다. Presented here is an extremely rare case of intradural extraosseous chordoma with tenacious adhesion to the pons. During the 5 years' follow-up period, the tumor has recurred locally twice in the prepontine region despite radical excisions and final irradiation with gamma knife. Magnetic resonance image obtained 1 year after radiosurgery demonstrated a new intradural mass growing above the tentorial hiatus, whereas the mass within the pons was markedly reduced. High resolution computed tomographic scan showed no evidence of bone involvement. Even though intradural location without bone involvement is a relatively benign occurrence, the recurrent pattern suggests and aggressiveness that correlates classic chordoma because of its invasion to the pons. Adjuvant radiotherapy will be required in this case for a long-term control.

      • An Approach for Physical Model Adaptation based on transient Measurements

        In order to cope with the ever increasing complexity of the control of internal combustion engines, modelbased calibration processes have become well established in recent years. Physical engine models are often used in early development stages, when no measurement data is available. At that stage, physical models can give a good, even though rough, overview over the overall engine behavior. Later on in the development process, however, an adaptation to a particular engine is usually required in order to match that particular engine’ output as good as possible. In contrast to data-driven statistical models, physical models have the disadvantage that one has to decide how to calibrate them, since they have many parameters, which are in addition often difficult to measure. One way of adaptation to measurement data, is by using statistical correction models. These can accommodate modeling shortcomings such as unknown or non-representable physical effects. However, recording of steady state measurement data typically requires a long measurement time. A model adaptation based on transient measurements would not only provide much more data points within shorter measurements periods but also information about the dynamic engine behavior during transient operation. This paper presents an approach of how to include transient measurements in a fitting process for a physical model. In order to demonstrate the flexibility of the method even on unmeasured quantities, we created a compensation model based on this structure for an air charge model and investigated its influence on the prediction performance.

      • Design of compensator for Engine Intake system model with Turbocharger by Extended Kalman Filter

        In order to apply an engine intake air system model to engine control, it is necessary to calculate the intake air system model quickly and accurately under constraints of computational performance. Therefore, a study has been made on a method for calculating the intake air system model implemented by an analog LSI at short times. However, the problem is to include the model error in the intake air system model based on the analog LSI of present state. This paper reports a compensation of the intake air system model with error by Extended Kalman Filter (EKF).A basic model that reproduces model errors of analog LSI model is built, and a compensator based on EKF is designed. As a result, it is confirmed that the compensator reduces the model errors by half. Moreover, this paper reports the numeric solution in order to reduce the hunting phenomenon of the engine intake air system model.
