The mass of “VO” of Shu-Bin phrase have corresponding “V le(了) O”. Furthermore, different semantic types of “V le(了) O” of Shu-Bin phrase phrases have different functional features. Except for being put in predicate position, some may be put in the position of object, attributive, subject, complement, adverbial, and some can constitute azimuth phrase with postposition and constitute“de” phrase with “de”. Generally speaking, “V le(了) O” of Shu-Bin phrase have diversity in syntactic function. “le” of “V le(了) O” can express “aspect” as well as “tense”. The appearence of different function is restricted by different syntax conditions.

Almost all of the Chinese grammar books and textbooks in talking about the law of the Modifier-head Phrase believe that “DE” must be used when an adverbial-headword modifying construction modifies nouns. But this view can not be supported by the language facts. This paper makes a detailed analyses of the type and function of the modifier-head phrase in which an adverbial-headword modifying construction modifies nouns directly (below with “adverbial+V+N” to refer to it), and draws the following conclusions. a. There are a lot of “adverbial+V+N” in Contemporary Chinese; b. “Adverbial+V+N” can be divided into the different types and each has different semantic and functional features; c. The types of adverbial is limited in “adverbial+V+N”; d. “Adverbial+V+N” has diversity in syntactic function, and can be put in different syntactic position; e. “Adverbial+V+N” has special role in the expression, but its composition must meet certain conditions. “adverbial+V+N” is not as good as “adverbial+V+de+N2” in free combination; f. In Chinese grammar textbooks and grammar teaching, we should make an objective description of “adverbial+V+N” to correct the one-sided understanding of the past.
