In this study, the performance analysis of the vehicle with the Ravigneaux type automatic transmission has been carried out using information of engine and drivetrain. It is necessary to understand the overall
system including engine, torque converter, clutch, planetary gears, and road load. The equations of motion are derived from the dynamic model. An integrated computer simulation program has been developed to analyze the powertrain performance of the vehicle with the Ravigneaux type automatic transmission.
The objective of this study is to analyze the static and dynamic characteristics of automotive rubber components by computer simulation. Bush /rectangular type engine mounts and wind shield weather strip are analyzed by using the commercial code ABAQUS and the results are verified by experiments. Large deformation static response is analyzed in order to get the information about the deformation pattern and static stiffness of engine mounts, and about the seperation force of wind shield weather strip from body. The isothermal steady-state dynamic response of components which have been subjected to an initial static pre-load is analyzed for the dynamic stiffness of engine mount rubber components. There are good agreements between simulation and experiments. So it is possible to apply the computer simulation to the design of automotive rubber components.

For the analysis of torque converter, the one dimensional performance model, which is based on the concept of constant mean flow path and constant flow angle, has been used. The assumption of constant parameters make the procedure of analysis and design simple. Because the constant parameters have not exact physical meaning, the correction factors have been used in practise. But the correction factors also have not physical meaning. So, the modelling with variable parameter is needed to consider the contribution of parameters on performance.
In this study, the determination algorithm of variable equivalent parameters is presented for the analysis of the torus flow and the variable flow angle. To set the objective function of optimization, the torque converter was modeled in detail. The parameter determination algorithm is based on the nonlinear optimization and the the initial values of parameters may be supplied. So, the geometric analysis was carried out and the effects of oil temperature was analyzed before optimizing. Using the determined parameters, the torus flow and the behaviour of flow angle is predicted.
The interest in the exhaust system of automobile has been much increased as the emission regulation was getting stronger and the durability of system was requested to be improved by the advanced countries including U.S.A. around world. The perfomance target of the system can be achieved by improving the flow distribution of exhaust gas. CFD is not only an economical tool in view of time and cost but also an efficient method for the optimal design.
In this study, we suggested the improved flow distribution for the exhaust system of a developing vehicle. The gas flow distribution was calculated by using the commercialized CFD code, STAR-CD.
This paper describes a finite element analysis carried out on the transmission casing so that an integrated analysis procedure can be introduced using IDEAS. NASTRAN and a transmission analysis program (Romaxdesigner) to improve the initial transmission design. A FE model was created using IDEAS and
analyzed using NASTRAN. Bearing loads calculated from' the transmission analysis program were applied to FE model. Deflection and stress analyses have been performed to evaluate the static characteristics of the initial transmission design. The analysis have been compared with test results to get more reliable data. We confirmed that the calculated value agrees well with the measured value. To reduce the stresses and deflections of the transmission casing, we carried out FE analysis again using the verified analysis method. As a result, we' suggest a transmission design having better quality to designer.

The purpose of this study is to predict the stability and frequency response of multi purpose vehicle suing linear vehicle equation. The positions of eigenvalue which is dominated by lateral velocity, yaw rate, roll rate of sprung mass are used to predict stability. The frequency responses of sprung mass to steering wheel input are also investigated.
Recently, much concern is being focused on brake system because a lot of possibilities to cause a brake uneven vibration and disk plate overheating are increased more than before as vehicle weight and engine power increase rapidly. Especially, brake system cooling is very important because it can decrease brake performance and induced thermal disk plate warpage from heat might lead to brake system vibration. Therefore, a lot of considerations for brake system cooling is needed in design stage. In this paper, brake system cooling analysis for various type of disk plate was implemented and from CFD analysis result, the best design for disk plate was proposed in view of flow with a 3D full car and brake submodel and analyzed by using a commercialized CFD code, ST AR-CD.

Air flow in the engine room has become an important factor in the performance improvement of engine cooling. Recently, engine room is becoming denser than ever, because of the advent of high power engine and larger passenger compartment area. Computer simulation is not only an economical tool in view of time and cost saving but also an efficient method for the optimal design. In this paper, cooling performances of two type radiators in the engine room have been simulated by using the commercialized CFD code, STAR-CD.
In this study, to improve the ride and handling characteristics of the vehicle which of H/P has been already fixed, a tunning method of load spring, damper and stabilizer bar is described. For the suspension of vehicle, optimized design is necessary to satisfy the incompatible two dynamic characteristics, ride isolation property between unsprung mass and sprung mass to reduce the excitation from the road and accurate cornering response property to specific steering inputs. To accomplish above aims, we may approach by experimental method, but it requires to sacrifice much time and cost. In this paper, therefore, provides a process of suspension development to improve ride and handling properties by using computer simulation with saving time and cost, and as results, compares the dynamic characteristics of the tunned vehicle with the base vehicle not tuuned.
