This paper presents a test method for the automatic lane change system which provides convenience and safety when a driver is trying to change lanes. This system is based on omnidirectional sensors such as a front camera and four corner radars to detect other vehicles surrounding the host vehicle. In addition, an electric power steering is utilized for this system to move the host vehicle to the next lane without collisions. Accurate evaluation method is essential to improve this system’s performance for driver’s convenience and safety during changing lanes in hazardous situations. The standard test scenarios are proposed to accurately develop this system as one of evaluation method. These test scenarios which consist of various value of tuning parameter shows the tendency of the system effectively. Thus, the system can be enhanced to modify the tuning parameters which result in the poor tendency. Automated testing configuration has been also presented for test safety, accuracy and repeatability of vehicle tests such as steering, braking, accelerating robots, Guided Soft Target based on GPS/INS. This test equipment can help to conduct a vehicle test according to the designed test scenarios and determine the performance of the system precisely. Vehicle tests showed proposed testing method could evaluate the performance of the automatic lane change system.

This research proposes vehicle state and road bank angle estimators for autonomous driving in highway. Road bank angle has a direct influence on vehicle dynamics and lateral acceleration measurement. However road bank angle is not directly measureable in current vehicle systems due to economical reasons, the major challenge is to differentiate the bias induced by road bank disturbances from actual vehicle lateral dynamic. This paper proposes a method of road bank estimation and provides the theoretical background for the vehicle lateral dynamics.
