In this paper, it is attempted to identify performance targets for suspension components of mid sedan to obtain desired road noise. From test results of the vehicle, it is found that cavity noise needs to be improved. For establishing targets of the suspension component selected to improve cavity noise, it is first identified how it affects the road noise. For performing the investigation, transfer path analysis (TPA) is utilized. After analyzing effects of the component on the road noise, target setting for the component is carried out. Here, target modes and their frequencies of the component are decided. Then, road noise analysis is conducted with improved suspension component which meets the targets. It is observed that the resulting road noise satisfies the target. Therefore, it is shown that targets for the suspension component are valid to obtain road noise desired.
