        In Korea, traditional market revitalization projects are being discussed at the government level due to the contraction of commercial market in the traditional market due to changes in distribution environment. The implementation of these projects has improved the overall environment, but guidelines that do not take into account the environment of each store are limited in raising direct sales of traditional markets. Therefore, as a solution to these problems, it is necessary to change the display method of stores and facilities for each store, and to find a way to apply VMD that can directly affect the sales increase. Thus, the purpose of this study is to find a strategy for optimal display furniture considering the store environment for successful modernization of traditional market. The study methods are as follows. Firstly, analyze the literature and previous research to examine with respect to the modernization of traditional markets and market furniture. Secondly, field survey and analysis of stores and stores in traditional markets. Finally, propose a furniture module optimized based on the analysis of previous studies and field surveys. The development strategy of the traditional market in this study can be used as a basic data for the development of concrete guidelines for the facility modernization policy of the traditional market revitalization project.
