한국산업기술진흥원(KAIT)기술경영우수논문 공모전 수상작 : R&D투자가 경영성과에 미치는 영향; 기술사업화 능력의 매개효과를 중심으로

R&D연구소를 보유하고 있는 우리나라 민간기업 118개를 분석한 결과, R&D투자는 기술사업화성과, 매출액증가율 및 영업이익증가율 등 경영성과에 모두 긍정적인(+)영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였고, 기술사업화 능력이 R&D투자와 경영성과간의 관계에서 분석한 결과, 기술전략기획능력, 기술프로세스능력, 기술조직능력인 광의의 기술사업화 능력이 경영성과에 부분적으로 매개효과를 나타났으며, 제조능력과 마케팅능력인 협의의 기술사업화 능력은 경영성과에 모두 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 R&D투자가 경영성과를 달성하는데 필요한 요인이지만, 기술사업화 능력도 경영성과에 매개작용을 하므로 기술사업화 능력을 강화하는 것이 필요함을 시사하고 있다. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect on R&D investment and technology commercialization capabilities on business performance of 118 Korean firms which has R&D center. In particular, this study tried to define technology commercialization and technology commercialization capabilities for the board and narrow perspective, and investigates the role of technology commercialization capabilities in linking R&D investment and business performance in terms of a financial performance as the growing rate of sales, the growing rate of operating income to sales and non-financial performance as the ratio of technology commercialization. The results of this study are as follows. First, the findings of the research indicated that there was a significant positive relationship between R&D investment and business performance as financial and non-financial. Second, the study found that board technology commercialization capability as technology strategic planning, technology process, and technology organization has the mediating effect to R&D investment on business performance as the ratio of technology commercialization. Third, the study found that narrow technology commercialization capability as manufacturing and marketing play a mediating role in terms of business performance as financial and non-financial.

위험요인과 R&D성과 간의 관계: 신제품개발단계별 접근

본 연구의 목적은 R&D성과를 높이기 위해 신제품개발프로세스 단계별로 연구개발을 수행하면서 고려되어져야 할 위험요인을 식별하고, 위험요인의 영향을 분석하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 논문은 대한민국의 대표 IT 기업인 삼성 및 LG전자의 계열사가 최근 5년 이내 개발한 IT 신제품에 대한 설문조사를 기반으로 하였다. 연구는 우선적으로 신제품개발프로세스에 따라서 위험요인을 식별하였고, 설문지를 통해 식별된 위험요인을 평가하였다. 위험의 영향을 분석하기 위해 R&D 성과를 기반으로 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 위험요인의 영향은 저 성과 그룹에서 높게 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 고 성과 그룹은 R&D 성과를 높이기 위해 프로젝트를 관리하는데 있어서 위험을 중요한 일로 간주하고 있었으며, 효과적으로 위험요인을 잘 관리하였다. 결론적으로 R&D 성과를 높이기 위해 신제품개발프로세스 단계별로 위험요인을 식별하고 분석한 후, 영향력이 큰 위험을 집중적으로 관리하는 위험관리활동이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. The purpose of the study is to identify risk factors and analyze risk impacts to increase R&D outcome by taking into consideration the activities undertaken in each phase of New Product Development(NPD) process. The paper builds on survey research that has been developed new IT products within the past 5 years at SAMSUNG and LG subsidiaries in the Republic of Korea. This study identified risk factors in accordance with NPD process and evaluated the identified risk factors with survey questionnaires. To analyze the risk impacts were used to perform a logistic regression analysis based on R&D output. The impact of risk factors were higher for the low-output group. High-output group took a risk into consideration unique undertakings in project management and managed risk factors effectively in order to increase R&D output. Consequently, with the aim of improving output of R&D, a risk management is necessary to identify the risk factors for each phase of NPD and focus on managing risk factors with great effect.
