본 연구는 통계청의 전국사업체조사 원시자료를 이용하여, 기업의 지역간이동패턴을 분석하고, 이동기업의 고용증가효과를 실증분석한다. 우리나라 전체기업을 대상으로 이동패턴을 분석한 최초의 연구로 산업단지 조성, 경제자유구역 등 산업입지정책을 수립하는데 기초자료로 활용가능하다. 서울을 포함한 부산, 울산, 광주, 대구, 대전 등 대도시에서 인근 외곽지역으로 이동패턴이 확인되었으며, 그 중에서도 수도권에서 인근 충청권 및 강원권으로의 이동이 두드러지게 나타났다. 이와함께 이동기업의 고용증가효과를 실증분석하였다. 이동기업이 비이동기업에 비해 고용증가효과가 크게 나타났다. 기업유입으로 인한 지역의 고용증가 외에 추가적인 증가효과가 발생하고 있어 기업이동이 지역경제에 긍정적 영향이 있음을 알 수 있다. The regional industrial policies implemented by central and local governments aim to form industrial clusters and energize regional economies by inducing enterprises to flow into regional areas. It is possible to refine targets and means for industrial location policies by analyzing the local properties of clusters formed by interregional movement and venturing, and the characteristics of relocating and start-up firms. The study uses Difference-in-Differences as a model to analyze the time series of employment differences between relocating and non-relocating groups. The employment in relocated enterprises decreased in the first year post relocation but gradually increased thereafter. In the third or fourth year after relocation, the change in employment can be described by a J-curve, in which the employment increase is larger in comparison with non-relocating enterprises with similar conditions. Both the manufacturing and service industries have not only increased local employment in regions by relocating to them but have also shown a higher effect on employment growth than non-relocating firms.
