근대 기독교와 중국사회의 관계연구 : 1922-1927년의 반기독교운동을 중심으로

기독교와 중국의 관계를 역사적으로 보면 두 개의 강한 문화체계의 만남 과 대화의 관계라고 볼 수 있다. 기독교가 중국에서 선교의 과정에서 중국사 회와 중국인들과 많이 충돌했다. 특히 20세기 초의 약 20년간 기독교가 중 국에서 선교의 ‘황금시기’를 맞으면서 많은 성과를 거둔 동시에 중국사회와 엄청난 갈등을 겪고 소위 중국 근대 역사상 ‘반기독교운동(非基督教运动)’을 초래했었다. 지식인과 청년학생들을 중심으로 일어난 이 반기독교운동이 당시 중국에서 일어난 민족주의 운동, 신문화운동 등과 상호 작용하면서 근 대 중국 사회에 막대한 영향을 미쳤다. 본고에서는 이 반기독교운동의 발생 배경과 전개과정, 그리고 그 미친 영향과 오늘의 중국사회와 교회에게 남겨 진 교훈을 분석하며 앞으로 중국 기독교와 사회 간의 능동적이고 적극적인 관계를 만들어가는 길을 모색할 것이다. If we look at the relationship between Christianity and China historically, it can be seen as a relationship of encounter and dialogue between two strong cultural systems. In the process of missionary work in China, Christianity collided with Chinese society and Chinese people a lot. In particular, for about 20 years of the early 20th century, while Christianity got many achievements as it entered the “golden period” of missionary work in China, it also had a huge conflict with Chinese society leading to the so-called “Anti-Christian Movement” in modern Chinese history. This anti-Christian movement, held by intellectuals and young students, had a huge impact on modern Chinese society as it interacted with the nationalist movement and new culture movement that took place at the time in China. In this paper, we will analyze the background and development of this anti-Christian movement, its impact, and the lessons it has left for today’s Chinese society and church, and will seek ways to create an active relationship between Chinese Christianity and society in the future.
