It has been reported that the convulsion induced by cocain was suppressed by Panax Ginseng and the onset of convulsion by metrazol and picrotoxin on frogs was definitely prolonged in large doses of Panax Ginseng. In this study, it was attempted to investigate the anticonvulsant effect of Panax Ginseng extract on the cardiazol convulsion of mice. And the anticonvulsant effect of Panax Ginseng ,extract was compared with pheny tion and reserpine on the cardiazol convulsion. The following results were obtained. 1. The onset of the cardiazol convulsion on mice was definitely prolonged by pretreatment with Panax Ginseng extract for both 7 days and 15 days. 2. The prolongation of the onset of the cardiazol convulsion by Panax Ginseng extract was almost same as phenytoin 1mg/kg. 3. The onset of the cardiazol convulsion on mice was inclined to shorten by the pretreatment with reserpine.

The dyeing characteristics of acorn was investigated. The natural fabrics-cotton, rayon and silk-were dyed repeatedly in the solution extracted from acorn shell. CuSO?, K?Cr?O?, Ca(OH)? and brine were used as a mordant to improve solor fastness. Anti-bacterial property was measured in dyed and mordant treated fabrics. When the cotton and rayon fabrics were dyed and treated with CuSO?, their colors showed very clear. They also had good color fastness and excellent anti-bacterial property. The dyed silk fabrics had better dye absorption property than the cotton and rayon without mordant treatment. But the fabrics dyed without mordant treatment had low light fastness. The cotton, rayon and silk fabrics dyed and treated with brine were dasrk unclear. An aftertreatment with CuSO? and K?Cr?O? made the dyed fabrics deeper and more clear.

The natural dyestuff(chestnut dye) was manufactured from chestnut hulls by boiling in 0.5% NaOH solution and powdering in freeze dryer. To investigate the dyeability and color fastness, cotton, wool, silk and nylon fabrics were dyed under several conditions using the manufactured chestnut dye. Dyeing operation was carried in acidic dyebath of pH 4-5 because the chestnut dye is anionic. Dyeabilities on wool, silk and nylon fabrics were good, especially nylon fabrics were dyed deeper than others. But dyeability on cotton fabrics was not good. All the dyed fabrics showed excellent color fastness to crocking. Color fastness to laurdering of them were moderate to good. Also light fastness of them were moderate to good except nylon. The light fastness of dyed nylon fabrics was as poor as grade 1. But they could be improved to grade 4 by aftertreatment with gallic acid.
