Objectives: This study was carried out in order to evaluate the overall process that the caregiving stress of parents of adult children with developmental disabilities affected their life satisfaction through the levels of family resilience, and coping styles on the basis of stress-coping-adaptation model of Lazarus and Folkman(1984). Method: For this purpose, the structured survey was conducted by 394 parents of adult children with developmental disabilities. The data was analysed by AMOS 20.0 version. Results: The findings can be summarized as follows: First, the structural equation model(SEM) analysis was conducted in order to examine the various paths that parents` caregiving stress affected their life satisfaction. The model`s goodness-of-fit was fine(x²=225.20, df=95, p=000. RMSEA=.06, TLI=.95). There were significant relationships between caregiving stress and family resilience(β=-.36, p<.001), emotion-focused coping style(β =.47, p<.001), life satisfaction(β=-.53, p<.001). Second, family resilience and emotion-focused coping showed mediating effects on the relationship between caregiving stress and life satisfaction. Conclusions: The strategies for enhancing family resilience and social services for applying effective coping methods should be expanded in order to diminish the caregiving stress of parents of adult children with developmental disabilities.
발달장애 성인자녀를 위한 부모의 평생계획 수립에 관한 연구

This study was conducted in order to examine the influence of sociodemographic characteristics, family resilience, self-help groups characteristics of families with the disabled on the establishment of permanency planning targeting the parents of adult children with developmental disabilities. The structured survey was conducted targeting 264 parents of children with developmental disabilities over the age of 18 years old in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do. Using SPSS 18.0 the data frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. The major findings were as follows: First, the need of permanency planning for adult children with developmental disabilities which their parents recognize was shown high. However, the readiness of the permanency planning for the disabled children was shown generally low. Second, the functional level of daily life, family resilience, the level of care giving burden, family income and supports from self-help groups were identified as statistically significant predictors for the level of permanency planning. The implications of those results were discussed.

Flame oscillation phenomena in a co-flow diffusion flame was experimentally studied with periodic fuel supply using a solenoid valve. The degree of excitation was controlled by changing the volume flux of fuel passing through the valve. Flame oscillation frequencies were measured utilizing a photodiode, a spectrum analyzer, video and high speed movies. Laser planar visualization was employed to study the correlation between the flame oscillation and the toroidal vortices. Observed are three regimes of flame oscillation, where the oscillation frequencies are for the multiples of excitation, the excitation itself and the flame natural oscillation. Both periods of natural oscillation and of excitation induced oscillation exist over one cycle of the excitation in the frequency multiplied regime. It is considered as an effect of balancing the influence of buoyancy driven vortex with that of excitation induced vortex near the excitation rate of 0.2. Flame shapes are become monotonous as increasing the excitation frequency to the range of over two fold of the natural oscillation. The flame oscillation can be modulated to the frequency of either multiples of excitation or excitation itself under certain conditions. This implies that the flame oscillation could be modulated to avoid the resonance frequency of the combustor, and shows the possibility of active control of the flame oscillation.

The temperature and soot particle measurement technique in a laminar diffusion flame have been studied to investigate the characteristics of soot particle with temperature using a co-flow burner. The temperature distributions in the flame were measured by rapid insertion of a R-type thermocouple and the soot particles were detected were detected by LEM/LIS techniques. In these measurement, soot volume fraction, number density and soot diameters were analyzed experimentally. As a results, the spacial distributions of particle volume fraction, soot diameter, and number density are mapped throughout the flame using the Rayleigh theory for the scattering of light by absorbing particles. A laser extinction method was used to measure the soot volume fraction and Laser induced scattering method was used to measure the soot particle diameter and number density. Also, we measured temperature without the effect of soot particles attached to the thermocouple junction, which is close to the nozzle. In this result, we found that upstream zone has a unstable flowing in co-flow diffusion flame and the y-axis temperature of flame has a uniform temperature distribution in the most soot volume fraction zone.
