The sprig of winged euoymus (Euonymus alatus, EA) has been used for curing gastric ulcer and stomach cancer as a folk medicine without any experimental evidence to supprot the rational basis for their clinical use. This experiment was carried out to evaluate th possible prophylatic or therapeutic effect of EA-extract against cancer, and to study some mechanism responsible for its effect. Some kind of tumors were induced by the topical application of 3-methylcholanthrene(MCA) or by the implantation(s. c) of malignant tumor cells such as leukemia cells(3LL cells) or sarcoma cells(S180 and FasⅡcells). Treatment of the EA sprig water-extract(dailly 1mg/mouse, i.p.) was initiated 7 days prior to tumor induction and lasted for 20 days. Against squamous cell carcinoma induced by MCA, EA decreased not only the frequency of tumor production but also number and weight of tumors per tumor bearing mice (TBM). EA also significantly suppressed the development of 3LL cell and S 180 cell-implanted tumors by frequency and their size, and some developed tumors were regressed by the EA-continuations into TBM. However, when tumor was induced by FsaⅡ cell-implantation, the growth of implanted cells in mice was delayed by EA until day 7 and then rapid growth ensued. In vitro EA had no effect on effect on the growth of some kind of cell lines such as FsaⅡ, A431 strain but it significantly inhibited the proliferation of 3LL, S 180 cells and it augmented the DNA synthesis of mitogen-activated lymphocytes. EA also stimulated leucocyte migration ability, MIF-and IL2-production of T lymphocytes, but not IL 6 production of B cells. EA-administration into mice enhanced Arthus reaction and DTH to sheep erythrocytes, and NK cells activities. These results demonstrated that EA exhibited a significant prophylatic benefits against tumors and its antitumor activity was manifested depending on the type of tumor cells. And these results also syggested that effect of EA might be chiefly due to nonspecific enhancement of NK cell activities and cell mediated immune responses.

P32를 이용한 녹비의 (綠肥) 수도에 (水稻) 대한 비효에 (肥效) 관하여

有機質 肥料의 施用 適量을 究明하기 爲하여 水稻를 Wagner pot(1/20,000反)에 砂耕栽培하여 그 生育을 調査하는 한편 燐酸 吸收 關係를 P-32를 追跡子로 利用 實驗하여 다음의 結果를 얻었다. 1. 有機質 肥料 施用이 本 實驗與件 下에서 作物의 線生長, 藥乾物重, 平均穗長, 稔實率, 種實風乾重等에 뚜렷한 影響을 나타내지 않았다. 2. 種實數는 對照區에 比하여 pot 當 乾燥 綠肥 10g∼20g 施用區에서 顯著히 많은 傾向을 보였다. 3. 種實重/葉重도 有機質 施用區에서 對照區에 比하여 有意差를 보였다. 4. 葉內 全 P水準은 有機質 施用量이 많을수록 時日이 經過될수록 높다. 5. 標識된 燐肥料로부터의 吸收率은 有機質 施用豊이 많을수록 旅用凌 時日이 經過될수록 얕은 傾向을 보였다. 6. 土壤으로부터의 吸收率은 前項 5와는 反對 傾向을 보이며 이러한 關係는 pot 當의 A-value에도 反映된다. 7. 綠肥 多量 施用에 따르는 水稻根의 吸收 阻害와 그밖의 生育 障害의 徵兆는 볼 수 없었다.
