사랑은 사회적 구성의 가장 원초적 심급에 자리하고 있으며 그렇기 때문에 대부분의 사회적 관계에도 내포되어 있기 마련이다. 사랑이 이처럼 중요하고도 명확한 사회적 사실임에도 불구하고 사랑에 대한 사회학적 관심과 논의는 어느 정도 주변적이었고, 특히나 한국 사회학계에서는 거의 전무하다시피 한 게 사실이었다. 이 글은 이러한 문제의식 하에 사랑, 특히 그 중에서도 성연 사랑을 마음사회학적 관점에서 접근하여 새롭게 규명해보고자 한 시론적 시도이다. 우리는 사랑을 내밀한 심리, 정서적 차원의 문제로만 간주하는 흐름과 그것을 체계적, 구조적 차원에서 접근하되 기능적, 실체적, 이분법적으로만 처리하는 흐름을 동시에 비판한다. 그 결과 마음과 사회구조적 조건의 교호와 그 교집합 영역의 중요성, 그리고 그 또한 고정된 것이 아니라 제사(際事)의 영역을 넘나들며 끊임없이 연기(緣起)적으로 움직인다는 사실을 강조하였다. 이 과정을 통해 이른바 언어학적 패러다임과 근대성이론의 맹점을 넘어 마음이 개입된 새로운 사랑연구와 그 사회이론적 단초를 찾아보고자 했다. 아울러 사랑의 언어초월적 교감성과 사회조건가변성을 교차시키면서 실제 사랑의 제사성(際事性), 나아가 무궁한 다기성을 영화와 소설이라는 매체를 통해 경험적으로 확인해보려 하였다. 우리의 통상적 기대와는 달리 사랑은 늘 역설의 과정이라는 것이 사실에 가까울지 모른다. 내 마음 속의 역설, 내 마음과 너 마음의 역설, 내 마음과 우리 마음의 역설 등등. 이러한 역설은 여러 가지 조건(緣)의 그물망 속에서 탈역설화되고 재역설화되는 과정을 반복하며, 그것은 명백히 우리 삶의 기쁨과 고통과 설렘과 아쉬움의 진원지이다. 그런 점에서 삶에서 사랑의 문제는 늘 역동적인 소설 같거나 그 이상일 수밖에 없다. 사랑의 과정은 이론적, 추상적 인식의 문제가 아니라 우리 삶의 실제를 구성하는 고갱이 자체이기 때문일 것이다. Love is at the most primitive heart of social composition, and is therefore implicit in most social relationships. Although love was such an important and clear social fact, the sociological interest and discussion of love were somewhat peripheral, especially in the Korean sociological studies. This article was an essay to take a new approach to love, especially sexual love, from a psychosocial point of view. We simultaneously criticize the flow of considering love only as an internal psychological and emotional dimension problem and the flow of approaching it at a systematic and structural level but only dealing with functional, tangible and dichotomous. As a result, it emphasized the importance of the intersection of mind and social structural conditions, the importance of the intersection of the intersection, and the fact that it was not fixed but constantly acting across the In-between area. Through this process, I wanted to find new love studies and social theoretical foundations that involved the hearts beyond the blind spots of the so-called linguistic paradigm and modernity theory. In addition, he/she tried to cross the language of love with transcendent communion and variability in social conditions, while empirically checking the actual in-between nature of love and the infinite versatility through the medium of movies and novels. Contrary to our usual expectations, it may be close to the fact that love is always a process of paradox. Paradox in my heart, paradox between my and your heart, paradox between my and our heart, etc. This paradox repeats the process of dereliction and re-interpretation in a net of various conditions, which is clearly the epicenter of joy, pain, excitement and regret in our lives. In this regard, the problem of love in life is always like dynamic fiction or more. It may be because the process of love is not a matter of theoretical and abstract perception, but rather the pure essence itself, which constitutes the reality of our lives.
