본 연구는 신세대 병사의 자살시도 경험에 대한 내용분석에 관한 연구이다. 신세대 병사의 자살시도 경험을 심리·정서적 차원, 신체적 차원, 가족적 차원, 교육적 차원, 사회적 차원으로 구분하여 밝히는 것이다. A지역에 있는 담당자에게 의뢰되어 병사 1인을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하였다. 원자료를 분석한 결과 39개의 의미내용을 구성하였다. 연구결과, 심리·정서적 차원에서는 자살시도에 대한 죄의식과 대체물 찾기, 통회, 자기낙인 찍기, 무망감, 분노, 우울, 자살생각으로 나타났으며, 신체적 차원에서는 자살시도를 할 때마다 몸에 상처로 나타났다. 가족적 차원에서는 가족회피, 가족의 무관심, 가정폭력으로 나타났으며, 가족구성원으로부터 폭력의 경험, 어린 시절부터 부모의 무관심으로 부모의 관심은 기억이 나지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 교육적 차원에서는 교육을 담당하는 간부로부터 권력남용, 차별로 인한 불공평, 교육부재로 나타났으며, 사회적 차원에서는 자신 스스로 나는 모든 사람들이 자신을 싫어한다고 생각되어 고립된 생활을 하였고, 특히 병사 동료와 간부들에 대해 거부하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 주요한 관심은 ‘날마다 죽고 싶다는 것’, ‘견디기 힘들어 아무것도 못 하겠다’, ‘힘들다’는 것이다. 이것은 ‘살고 싶어서 죽는 것이다.’라는 아이러니한 내용으로 해석할 수 있다. 어린 시절부터 아무도 관심을 주지 않았고, 지금도 관심 밖의 대상이라 생각하고 있어서 ‘관심을 가져달라’는 살고 싶다는 강력한 호소이며, 그 호소는 극단적 선택의 행동으로 ‘죽음밖에 없다’하고 생각하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 이러한 경험은 자살을 시도하는 신세대 병사에게 꾸준히 반복되고 계속으로 이어지는 경험을 하고 있었으며, 가정에서의 경험하는 것이 자살시도로 이어지는 고통의 경험으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점 및 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다. This study is on the qualitative content analysis of the experience of the new generation soldiers who have attempted suicide. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors of psychological and emotional dimension, physical dimension, family dimension, educational dimension, and social dimension that affect suicide attempt of soldiers. In-depth interviews were conducted with one soldier by requesting a person in charge in area A. As a result of analyzing raw materials, 38 meaning contents were composed. In the psychological and emotional dimensions, guilt and alternatives to suicide attempts, regret, self-stigma, hopelessness, anger, depression, and suicide were found, and in the physical dimension, it was found that every time suicide attempts were made, it was found that it hurt the body. In the family level, family avoidance, family indifference, and domestic violence were found. Parents' interest was not remembered due to the experience of violence from family members, and parental indifference since childhood. In the educational level, the education officers were found to be abuse of power, unfairness due to discrimination, and lack of education. In the social level, they thought that everyone else hated themselves and lived isolated life, especially they thought negatively about their soldiers and executives. The main concern is that ‘I want to die every day’, ‘I can not bear it’, ‘I can not do anything’, and ‘I am in difficulty’. This can be interpreted as an ironic content of 'I want to die to live '. Since no one has been interested since childhood and still thinks that it is something beyond interest, ‘be interested' is a strong appeal to live, and it is very important to think that ‘death is the only thing' is an extreme choice. This experience was repeated and continued to the new generation soldiers who tried to commit suicide, and the experience at home was the experience of suffering leading to suicide attempt. Based on these resulst, implications and limitations of this study and the suggestions for following research were discussed.
