To determine the effects of body conditioning score (BCS), calving difficulty (CD) and calving season (FS) on days of peak milk yield (DPM) and peak milk production (PM), the Lactation records of 160 cows in the National Animal Breeding Institute during 1993 were analyzed. Calving season was found to be a significant (p$lt;0.05) influence on peak milk production and days of peak milk yield. DPM was longest for the spring calving season (March to May), but it was shorter for the winter (December to February), summer (June to August) and fall (September to November) calving seasons (in that order). PM was highest in the winter, but showed decreasing values in the spring, summer and fall. CD did not significantly effect DPM and PM, but there was no unitorm tendency shown. BCS did not significantly effect DPM (p$lt;0.05). Cows having a body conditioning score below 3.25 had higher milk yields than those scoring over 3.25.

To estimate the effect of parity, and the heritability of the pelvic inlet size and rump width, the data set of 276 heads of dairy cattle were analized. The parity influenced on the pelvic inlet size and rump width (p $lt;.01). The heritabilities of the pelvic inlet size and rump width were .24±.24, .28±.22 by GLM and Harvey, .40±.23, .35±.23 by ML, .43±.23, .38±.23 by REML, .59±.22, .30±.22 by MIVQUE, respectively.

The Monte Carlo simulation method was applied to postulate the genetic changes for the body weight at 6 and 12 months of age of Korean cattle(Han Wool. As assumptions for gene action, each animal had 64 loci with two alleles. `A` and `a` or `B` and `b`, with 32 pairs in each genome to allow epistasis between loci. The epistasis allowed between two loci. The genome was arbitrarily divided into 8 sections and the gene mode simulated was as follows; On the body weight at 6 months of age, an additive effect of `A/B` gene was observed in 4 sections among 8 sections, while that of `a/b` gene appeared in I section for the body weight. An interaction between additive by dominant effect was obtained in 2 sections, but them was no gene action in 1 section. On the body weight at 12 months of age, there were additive effects of `A/B` gene in 5 sections, dominant effect in 1 section, additive by dominant effect in 1 section and additive effect of `a/b` gene, on the body weight. The heritabilities of body weight at 6 and 12 months of age were 0.36 and 0.45, respectively, and gene mode actions were adopted to estimate genetic changes in body weight at 6 and 12 months of age in Korean cattle.

This study was carried out to determine the effects of body measurements and weights of dams on calves body weights in Korean native cattle raised at National Animal Breeding Institute from 1981 to 1988. The data obtained from the records for 194 heads of cows and 185 heads of calves. For calf body weight at birth, the effect of dam parity on male calf was significant at 1% level. The effect for calf weight at 3 months was not significant, but the effect for calf weight at weaning was significant at 1% level on the female and the male. On the phenotypic correlations of body weights and measurements of dams on calves weights at birth the body weight of the female on 3rd parity were positively correlated with chest width, hip width and thurl width of dam. On the Ist parity, body weight of the male at 3 month were positively correlated with widthers height, chest girth, chest widths, hip width, thurl width, body weight of dam. But those of weaning weights of calves with body measurements and weights of dam did not showed uniform trend.

This study was conducted to determine the effects of inbred dams, years, breeds, seasons of service and dam`s parities on preweaning traits of pigs. The data used were the records of 2,784 heads tested from 1977 to 1984 at National Animal Breeding Institute. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; 1. Litter size and litter weight were significantly differed from years, breeds, seasons of service, dam`s parities and inbred dams. 2. Pig weight, abnormal birth, stillbirth and gestation period were significantly differed from years, breeds, seasons of service and dam`s parities. But the above traits did not significantly differ from inbred dams. 3. Regression coefficients of inbred dams on litter size at birth, 21 days and 56 days were -.046±.016, -.028±.012, -.031±.012, respectively. Those on litter weight at birth, 21 days and 56 days were -.084 ±.024, -.229±.068, -.652±.277 and those in pig weight at same days were -.001±.001, 000±.006, -.021±.030, respectively. That on gestation period was -.003±.010.

This study was undertaken to estimate the effects of year, breed, age of dam, sex of lamb and type of birth on the birth, weaning and grease fleece weights of sheep. The data used were the records of 1,530 heads of Corriedale and Polwarth raised at National Animal Breeding Institute from 1987 to 1988. The effects of year, breed, age of dam, sex of lamb and type of birth on the birth, weaning and grease fleece weight were significantly differed(p $lt;0.01). In the body weight as well as grease fleece weight, the Corriedale and single were heavier than the other side. Maximum body weight and fleece weight were reached at 5∼6 years of ewe age.

To determine effects of sire group and sire`s birth year on body measurements of Korean native calves, the data set from 276 heads of Korean native calf raised at National Animal Breeding Institute from 1981 to 1990, was analyzed. The sire groups were subdivided into performance tested, championship contested, and general sire groups, respectively. The effects of sire`s birth years on the calves growth were significant in body length, withers height, chest width, hip width and thurl width at birth, and in body weight, body length, withers height, chest girth, hip width and thurl width at 6 months after birth. On the calves growth, the effect of the championship contested sire group was much more evident than those of the other sire groups. Body lengths and chest widths at birth and 3 months after birth fluctuated greatly by sire`s birth year. However, at 6 months after birth, the phenotypic gain of the all traits were distinctive.

This study was carried out to estimate the genetic parameters on milk yield for 60 days and 305 days, peak milk yield and days at peak production. The data from a total of 532 head which were tested at the National Animal Breeding Institute from 1992 to 1993 was analyzed. The heritabilities for 60 day and 305 day milk yield were 0.65 and 0.34, while those for peak milk yield and days at peak production were 0.69 and 0.06. respectively. The genetic correlations between 60 days and 305 days milk yield, between peak milk yield and 60 day milk yield, and the interval between days at peak production and 60 day milk yield were 0.50. 0.99 and 0.05. respectively. Also the interval between 305 day milk yield and peak milk yield days, between 305 day milk yield and days at peak production, and between peak rink yield and days at peak production were 0.41, 0.68 and 0.26, respectively.
