Due to the growth of the power demand and the power supply with high voltage, the fault current is increased in the electrical power system, which is affected by its configurations such as system voltage and short circuit current. To protect the electrical power system against excess of circuit's rated breaking capacity, the both abilities, the TRV(transient recovery voltage) and RRRV(rate of rise of recovery voltage), are very important in the circuit breaker. In this paper, the characteristics of the TRV and RRRV for stable operations of the power system and protective devices are analyzed through the PSCAD/EMTDC.

Nowadays, it is a global trend to build refinery or chemical plants with an isolated system in a place distant from the center of a city. In the refinery or chemical plants equipped with an isolated system, induced motors mostly take the load, and the scale of high-voltage electric motors reaches from several kW up to several MW. Therefore, it is needed to examine the effects of electric motors on the power system closely in the stages of planning and designing a plant to build a stable power system. This study is aimed to investigate how to decide rated voltage in consideration of stability which has not been considered in the stages of planning and designing so far in order to secure stability for the power system.

Recently, not only in the Middle East and Southeast Asia but in African area, too, industrial plant construction is being actually done. But unlike in Korea, a lot of them are small-scale isolated industrial plants. And because of the characteristics of industrial plants, induction motors’ load forms a large part. The influence of stability resulted from the maneuver and operation of induction motors’ load may lead to serious result in the isolated system. This study analyzed it through mathematical modeling on induction motors’ maneuver phenomena in the isolated system, realized a case system with the E-TAP program, and simulated load follow performances according to the control variables of a generator inside the isolated system.

Among the high distribution voltage consumers, high-capacity consumers are often applying the grounding resistance method in order to overcome demerits such as erroneous operation of the ground reply or potential increase in the battery at the accident of the isolated neutral system. In this paper, to prevent damage to CLR and GPT in the delay to block the breakdown in the resistance grounded neutral system, this study aims to provide a proper suggestion for continuous rating capacity of GPT to check the appropriateness of CLR size and reduce GPT burden. Thereupon, this study comparatively analyzes CLR current applied in general GPT and the current gained when CLR demanded in the system is used and analyzes the simulated system through simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC in order to suggest GPT’s proper continuous rating capacity.

A number of countries around the world have the goal to enhance the ratio of renewable energy and Korea is one of them. When the large capacity renewable energy is installed, it is intensely installed in one complex, and in order to obtain the effective ingredient of the maximum power generation, it operates as close to the power factor 1. The single group operation of the large capacity wind power generator greatly changes the voltage (V) of the inverter terminal connected to the wind power generator regardless of the reactive power. Over-voltage frequently occurs with the case of generating insulation destruction of inverter facility with the voltage change. In particular, if the semiconductor of the inverter is current-type element, it may be even more vulnerable to the over-voltage. In this paper, it analyzes the facility response related to the supply and absorption of reactive power in the relationship with the electrical power system to be connected for the over-voltage arising when installing the large capacity wind power energy, and it intends to compare and analyze the effect on the power conversion equipment and scope of voltage change following the installation type under the renewable energy source’s design.
대용량 풍력에너지의 계통 연계시 전압변동을 고려한 그룹 구성에 관한 연구

대용량 풍력발전 설치시 발생하는 과전압에 대하여 연계하고자하는 전력계통과 관계에서 무효전력의 공급 및 흡수에 관련한 설비적 대응을 분석하고, 신재생에너지원 설계 단계에서 설치 형태에 따른 전압변동 범위와 전력변환 설비에 미치는 효과를 비교 분석하고자 한다. The analysis aims to address equipment responses related to the supply and absorption of reactive power concerning the issue of overvoltage that occurs during the installation of large-scale wind power generation in relation to the interconnected power grid. Additionally, it seeks to compare and analyze the effects of voltage fluctuation ranges and power conversion equipment on the design of renewable energy sources at the installation phase, based on the installation configuration.
PSCAD/EMTDC와 FEA를 이용한 케이블 배열 방법에 따른 전류 불균형률의 비교

In this study, samples from the site where there occurred unbalanced current when cable routing were analyzed, and the simulation program for electric power system analysis, PSCAD/EMTDC, was used to calculate the current unbalance on cable routing. Based on electromagnetic finite element analysis(FEA), electromagnetic parameters enabled the interlocking with COMSOL for the calculation of allowable current ampacity and magnetic filed distribution. This then led to modeling unbalanced current between common modes using the unbalanced current analysis program, thereby comparing and discussing the results from both. The analyzed model is a common mode 2 parallel circuit, which is a basic model for cable routing, and by arranging cables in various ways, the arrangement with the least current unbalance was suggested, which would, in the future, prevent earth faults and extend life for the whole cable.
