첫 일자리의 선택이 노동소득에 미치는 영향 : 첫 일자리 이후의 일자리 이행과 노동소득의 변화에 관한 검토

청년층의 노동시장 진입과 첫 일자리에 대한 높은 관심에도 불구하고, 첫 일자리가 노동소득의 변화에 장기적으로 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구는 매우 부족하다. 또한 높은 자영업 비중에도 불구하고 자영업 경험이 소득 성장에 미치는 장기적 영향에 대해서는 충분한 검토가 이루어지지 않았다. 이에 이 연구에서는 한국노동패널에 성장곡선모형을 적용해 첫 일자리 이후의 종사상 지위의 변화와 노동소득의 변화를 추적했다. 주요한 분석 결과 및 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 경력 초기에는 종사상 지위의 이동이 비교적 활발한 편이며, 경력 중·후반에는 종사상 지위의 이동이 고착화된다. 따라서 경력 중·후반에 대해서는 분단노동시장이론의 정합성이 매우 높지만, 경력 초기에는 그렇지 않을 수도 있다. 둘째, 노동소득과 관련해서는 집단에 따른 위계적인 계층구조가 존재하며 생애사에 걸쳐 유지되고 있다. 특히 첫 일자리를 임시일용직으로 시작하면 첫 일자리를 상용직으로 시작한 노동자들의 시간당 임금을 따라 잡을 수 없다. 셋째, 노동시장에서의 소득계층 이동에서 자영업은 이중적인 역할을 한다. 임금 노동자가 자영업으로 이동하면 소득수준이 증가하지만, 자영업자가 임금 노동시장으로 이동하면 노동소득이 큰 폭으로 감소한다. Whereas relatively high interest in the mechanism of how the first job affects income inequality and mobility, little research has been examined the long-term effects of the first job on labor income. Also, there is little known about the long-term impacts of self-employment experience regardless high proportion of self-employment. This study examines the trajectory of labor income and employment status after the first job using KLIPS and Multilevel growth curve model. The results and implications are as follows. First, the transition of employment status is relatively active in the early career period, while the transition of employment status is restricted in the middle-to-late career period. Therefore, although the consistency of the segmented labor market theory is very high for the mid-to-late career period, it may not be so at the early career period. Second, concerning labor income, hierarchical structures exist according to groups and are maintained throughout the life course. In particular, if young people start their first job as non-regular employment, it is difficult to catch up with the hourly wage of workers who have begun their career as regular employment. Third, self-employment plays an antinomy role in the movement of income classes in the labor market. When wage workers move to self-employment, their labor income rises, but when self-employers move to the wage labor market, their labor income decreases sharply.
