Small Island Developing States (SIDSʼs) have recently drawn attention from the international community due to the natural resource reserves within their territories. These states, in general, are economical under-developed, and thus do not have sufficient economic resources or capability to self-sustain. Advanced economies including the European Union, the United States, Japan, Austrailia, and New Zealand, have reached out to strategically develop foreign relations with SIDSʼs by providing financial resources and technologies. By looking at various economic measures published by the World Bank, this bilateral relations seem to lead the investment to a positive development. Comparing to the leading members of OECD, the contribution of Korean government to the SIDS communities has not been quite successful. This study examines the dynamic multilateral relationships between advanced countries and 14 SIDSs in the equatorial pacific area, and identifies the important determinants in developing relations with them. We conclude with a set of guidelines for the future strategy of Korean government and related industries.
