In this paper, the noise radiation characteristics of hermetic reciprocating compressor (HRC) are studied. Compressor noise is difficult to investigate because various excitation sources are simultaneously applied. Thus, numerical analysis is performed to identify excitation sources generated by the compression process. Finite element models of HRC are constructed by considering the acoustic-structure interaction. Acoustic propagation can be identified visually by applying each excitation source to the configured finite element models. The analysis and experimental results are compared to confirm the computational simulation methodology. From the analysis results, the HRC noise generation mechanism is verified. In addition, it is possible to investigate the acoustic characteristics of each noise source, which is difficult to identify using experimental methods.

Noise source identification of the hermetic reciprocating compressor for refrigerator has been investigated. Since the compressor shell housing is designed as airtight chamber to suppress refrigerant gas coming into contact with outside atmosphere, behaviors of the compression driving part are difficult to observe. So far, noise generation mechanism of the hermetic reciprocating compressor is studied by empirical estimation or intuitive consideration. Therefore, novel approach is required to figure out the relationship between compression process and noise generation. In this paper, behavioral features of primary components such as valve system and cylinder pressure are investigated by using the custom-designed compressor. Noise characteristics are clarified by measurement of another mass-produced compressor, separately. In order to identify the relation between compression procedure and noise generation simultaneously, synchronization of measured time signals is carried out. Short time Fourier transform (STFT) analysis is performed to verify noise generation mechanism with respect to both time and frequency domains. In addition, correlation between operating speed and noise characteristics is considered as the reciprocating compressor drives at various speed according to operating conditions of the refrigerator.

In this paper, it is investigated that noise generation mechanism of a rotary compressor using experimental method. The measurement was carried out for primary parameters which influence noise characteristics. By using STFT(short time fourier transform), noise sources of a rotary compressor were identified and vibrating modes that increase the noise are verified. Also, it was studied that the correlation between operating speed and noise. Main factors that affect the variation of noise level were considered by the comparison of the experimental results. In addition, a dynamic characteristic of crank shaft was studied and the critical speed was analyzed.

Recently, noise reduction of air-conditioner is one of the important design factors for high quality product. Especially, customer complaints arise due to noise problem of the outdoor unit. After the operation of airconditioner start, noise level of outdoor unit is increased gradually and sometimes abnormal noise occurs until it reaches steady state condition. The aim of this paper is to investigate the relation between noise of outdoor unit and thermodynamic properties of cycle at transient condition of room air-conditioner. In order to find out the noise characteristics of outdoor unit, noise and vibration measurements are carried out. Also, the thermodynamic properties of compressor and heat exchanger are measured by using temperature and pressure sensors and experimental results are discussed. Finally, we find out the relation between noise and cycle properties at starting of room air-conditioner and the improvement method to reduce noise level is proposed.

최근 생활수준의 향상으로 인해 가정용 에어컨의 보급률이 꾸준히 증가함에 따라 품질에 대한 소비자의 눈높이 또한 점점 높아지고 있다. 과거에 소비자의 요구는 제품의 효율성에 집중되었지만 점차 저진동/저소음에 대한 부분으로 확장되고 있다. 에어컨의 압축기는 제품의 효율을 결정하는 주요한 부분이면서 동시에 진동/소음의 주된 원인을 제공하고 있다. 압축기에서 발생한 진동/소음은 압축기 케이스와 배관을 통해 주위 구조물로 전달되고 이들은 다시 구조기인 소음이나 2 차적인 진동을 유발하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 RecurDyn 을 이용해 압축기의 진동/소음에 영향을 미치는 모터의 가진력이 고려된 MFBD(Multi Flexible Body Dynamics) 해석 모델을 개발하였다. 개발된 모델을 이용하여 압축기의 진동/소음 특성을 조사하고 압축기에서 발생하는 진동을 계산하여 실험 결과와 비교하였다. Recently, noise reduction in room air conditioner has been one of the most important issues as well as cooling efficiency. A rotary compressor is widely used in room air conditioners. But, the rotary compressor is the dominant vibration/noise source in an air conditioner. A number of studies have been conducted on reducing rotary compressor vibration/noise through improving muffler and resonator design. However, a noise delivering path between compressor and pipe is not fully taken into consideration. In this paper, the vibration analysis model of rotary compressor is modeled using RecurDyn and experimental validation is presented.
