To invastigate the epidemiological trait of listeriosis, Listeria monocytogenes were isolated from the carcasses of pigs and cattle, and environmental specimens in slaughter house. Also serotype of isolates were classified by rapid slide agglutination test. In the carcasses of pigs, Listeria sp were isolated from the carcasses after bleeding(62%), after dismemberment(60.0%) and before shipping(76.0%), and L monocytogenes were present in 8% of the carcasses after dismemberment and in 14% of the carcasses before shipping. However, few Listeria sp were isolated from the living body skin and the carcasses after scalding. In the carcasses of cattle, Listeria sp were isolated from the carcasses after bleeding(10%), after dismemberment(36.7%) and before shipping(63.3%), L monocytogenes were present in 3.3% of the carcasses after dismemberment and in 10% of the carcasses before shipping. Overall, L monocytogenes, L innocua, L welshimeri, L grayi, and L murrayi were present in 4.8, 40, 2.3, 2.6 and 0.3% of all the carcasses, respectively. Prevalence of Listeria sp in environmental specimens were found to be 80% in slaughter house floors and 100% in sewage, and L monocytogenes were present in 15% of sewage. However, few Listeria sp were isolated from chilled water and from scalding water. Overall, L monocytoge-nes, L innocua, and L welshimeri were present in 3.8, 45 and 6.3% of all the environmental speci-mens, respectively. A total 27 strains of L monocytogenes were isolated from samples tested and all of the strains were classified into serotype 1.

In view of space saving, the design of more compact heat exchangers is relatively important. Also, to meet the demand for saving energy and resources today, manufacturers are trying to enhance efficiency and reduce the size and weight of heat exchangers. Over the past decade, there has been tremendous advancement in the manufacturing technology of high efficiency heat exchangers. This has allowed the use of smaller and high performance heat exchangers. Consequently, the use of smaller and high performance heat exchanger becomes popular in the design of heat exchangers. Welded compact plate heat exchanger is used in high temperature and pressure. In the design of heat exchanger, it is necessary to understand the heat transfer and frictional characteristics, so performance data are provided to help design of this type heat exchanger.

This study was attempted to survey on the prevalence of heart-worm infection among 253 dogs (male 167, female 86) on the 16 breeding farms in southern Gyeongnam area in May to December 2007. The results obtained from this experiment were summarized as follows; 1. Fifty seven (22.5%) of the 253 examined dogs were heartworms antigen positive, while twenty five dogs were Microfilaria positive by the modified Knott`s method. 2. The regional infection rates were of Tongyeong (25%) and Goseong (21%), and on the breeding environment aspects, infection rates were rural area farms lower than urban area farms. 3. The sexual infection rates were observed female (26/86, 30.2%) higher than male (31/167,18.6%). 4. The infection rates in breeding size of farms were ?20 head, 20~50 head and ¤50 head were 31% (11/35), 26% (35/135) and 13% (11/82), respectively. 5. The infection rates of heartworm in examined dogs at the age of ?2, 2~4 and ¤5 were 10.7% (8/75), 26% (40/154) and 37.5% (9/24), respectively. 6. In the microfillaria infected 25 dogs, identified Dirofilaria immitis of 21 (84%) using PCR. 7. Dogs infected with heartworm were increased in number of eosinophil.
