3-D model using the micro genetic algorithm has been applied to find the optimum combustion condition of diesel engine. It has been widely recognized that the micro genetic algorithm adopting the elitist strategy is more efficient than other optimization tools. In this study, The key design parameters including NOx, Soot, HC and BSFC has been reached to the optimum values through genetic algorithm. The optimization design analysis has be made for six design variables such as EGR, boost pressure, start of injection duration, mass in first pulse and dwell between pulse. This optimization has successfully demonstrated the capability to identify the optimum condition for simultaneously reducing NOx, Soot and BSFD. Numerical results suggest that the current approach can be used as a design tool for research development process of automobile engines.

The 1-D/3-D model using the micro genetic algorithm has been applied to find the optimum combustion condition of diesel engine. HC and BSFC has been reached to optimized values through genetic algorithm with key design variables. The 1-D approach is based on six variables including EGR. CR. exhaust port length. intake port length, start of injection and swirl ratio. In the 3-D approach, the optimization design analysis has be made for four design variables such as EGR, duration of injection, start of injection and swirl ratio. This optimization has successfully demonstrated the capability to identify the optimum condition for simultaneously reducing NO_x, Soot and BSFC. These numerical results suggest that the current approach can be used as a design tool for research development process of automobile engines.<br/>
