기혼 남녀의 성인애착과 결혼만족의 관계: 정서자각과 정서표현억제의 매개효과

본 연구에서는 기혼 남녀를 대상으로 성인애착의 두 하위차원(애착회피/애착불안)과 결혼만족도와의 관계에서 정서자각과 정서표현억제의 관련구조를 살펴보고, 성인애착이 결혼만족도에 미치는 영향에서 정서자각과 정서표현억제의 매개효과를 알아보았다. 자료 수집을 위해 성인 애착, 정서자각, 정서표현억제, 결혼만족도로 구성된 질문지를 국내에 거주하고 있는 기혼 남녀에게 배부하여 총 319명의 사례가 최종 분석에 사용되었다. 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 주요 변인들 간의 관련성을 살펴보기 위해 상관관계 분석을 실시하였고, 성인애착과 결혼만족도의 관계에서 정서자각과 정서표현억제가 매개하는지 알아보기 위해 구조방정식 모형 검증을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 정서자각과 정서표현억제 모두 성인애착의 두 하위차원과 결혼만족도의 관계에서 완전매개효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기혼 남녀의 정서자각 능력을 향상시키거나 정서표현에 대한 갈등을 줄이는 것이 부부관계 개선에 도움이 될 수 있음을 의미한다. 연구 결과를 토대로, 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점에 관하여 논의하였다. The purpose of this study was to examine possible mediation effects of emotional awareness and suppression of emotional expression on the relation between adult attachment and marital satisfaction. A sample of 319 married men and women responded to the self-report questionnaires drawn using Experiences in close Relationships Revised (ECRR), Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS), Attitudes Towards Emotional Expression (ATEE), and Marital Satisfaction Inventory (MSI). Correlation analysis using SPSS and Structural Equation Modeling analysis using AMOS were conducted for data analysis. Particularly, Bootstrapping and Sobel test were used to test the significance of indirect effect. The major results of this study were as follows: Correlational analyses revealed that both emotional awareness and marital satisfaction showed a statistically significant negative correlation with attachment avoidance as well as attachment anxiety, while suppression of emotional expression showed a statistically positive correlation with attachment (avoidance/anxiety). Emotional awareness and suppression of emotional expression were found to have a statistically significant positive and a negative correlation respectively with marital satisfaction. Both emotional awareness and suppression of emotional expression fully medicated the association between attachment (avoidance/anxiety) and marital satisfaction. Implications for counseling practice and suggestions for future research are discussed.
